@ward While I couldn't care less how people are calling it, I think that's a tool like any other.
There are people who don't consider digital painting art (or less valuable/artistic) than traditional painting.
Same goes with electronic music, loops and so on.
I decided to post an introduction, let's say, once per month with the objective of reaching as many people as possible who might be interested in what I do 🙃
My name is Luca, I'm a drummer and IT professional from Italy, currently based in the Czech Republic.
I've asked this before and don't think there was as much up and running at that point, but are there any great existing #PeerTube platforms for hosting #MusicVideos (and related puppet vids) that also give the option to embed privately or "unlisted"?
I currently pay a Vimeo subscription to have no ads and privacy settings on certain playlists, but I'd prefer to put those funds into more recording time and the videos themselves. Any suggestions? 🙃 #FediMusic#Musodon#DIYMusic#Music#Musician
Hi @RobertaFidora, I'm not sure if I understand exactly what you need, however, I have an unlisted PeerTube video, and it's embedded in a page on my website.
@RobertaFidora@freebliss
That's great, and I wanted to have a look as well! 😁
However, being self-hosted (I guess), you need to have space and processing power (I guess? 😆).
I think if you're not eating hundreds of gigabytes, the PeerTube instance should be fine too!
@RobertaFidora I'm still not sure what you're trying to achieve (sorry 😂) - kind of private space to store videos?
To do what I described earlier, I used https://makertube.net/
However, I needed to do it once, I'm not sure if it's ok with their rules if used as "personal storage" (again, if this is what you need to do)
#Musician friends, I've been slacking on listening to and writing about your #music. In my defense, I've been stupid busy but I'm going to start making time. Feel free to reach out to me with what you're up to and I'll try to cover as much of it as possible as soon as I wrap up my current writing test (due Monday night, so starting Tuesday most likely).
Still planning on launching a newsletter to act as a home for all that but haven't had time to figure out the logistics of that either.
My daughter's music group, #Eyrie, in Japan, on June 7th, will release an album through Universal Music Japan, titled, #Hintori, which translates to Phoenix, Firebird, Immortal Bird. In Japanese culture, it's also a symbol of hope and renewal.
They'll be touring later as well through Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya.
I'm so incredibly proud of Rina. She has amazing music talent and her music career is doing so great! She's the one in the middle in the group picture.
"Phoenix" was the life's work of Japan's world-renowned #manga artist Osamu #Tezuka, This is an official album produced with Tezuka Productions.
The album's preface has comments from Osamu Tezuka's eldest daughter, Rumiko Tezuka.
Notable changes¹: Introducing "Unlisted Releases"² (only visible to those given the private link), Polish translations (thanks Damian Szetela!), Option to disable waveforms³, Prevent almost all layout shifts during page load (thank you @fennifith!), Prevent search engine crawling of non-public pages (thanks @dried for the intel!), More efficient image resizing algorithm and ~25% faster pure-rust image processing, Text direction automatically set based on language
Debian/Arch packages are out already, macOS brew update as well!
In related news, since a few days it's possible to financially support my work on faircamp via Ko-fi (https://ko-fi.com/simonrepp) and Liberapay (https://liberapay.com/simonrepp), thanks to everyone who nudged this and those who already donated now and before - much appreciated!
@freebliss@fennifith@dried@poiseunderchaos Thank you guys for the amazing work! Is there any correct way on how to update both faircamp and the webpage or just wipe-reinstall-redeploy? Forgive me if I have missed it in the docs 🙃
@Steveg58
I follow the "introduction" hashtag which I check from time to time.
I was scrolling through it and I realized that a lot of fountain pen lovers/users joined or introduced themselves in the last 24h or so :D
Since it was quite weird to see so many with the same topic, I thought that something had happened :p
The upcoming #faircamp release will feature "unlisted releases", that is, you can add the flag "unlisted" to the release manifest/section to hide it from all publicly accessible pages, while still being able to visit the page if you know the permalink.
There are some minor implications for label mode though, which I'd be happy to have double-checked - if you're a (current or potential) faircamp site operator, do you have any thoughts on this?
"An unlisted release is never visible on the home/index page.
In label mode there are some additional intricacies: An artist that has only unlisted releases is not visible on the home/index page, but in turn, all of these unlisted releases are visible on the artist page, as the artist page itself is implicitly unlisted then. If however, an artist has even just a single listed release, it becomes visible on the home/index page, and on the artist page itself all unlisted releases are not visible anymore."
@freebliss I think it's correct if the artist is not visible if there are only unlisted releases.
If it was visible with unlisted releases only, and the releases were hidden, it wouldn't make sense to see an empty page anyway, I guess.
On the other hand:
I don't know how this is programmed, but maybe the #artist "object" could be seen in the same way as a "listed release" in order to make the artist visible in the home and have a page with no visible releases, as some kind of presentation.
@smallcircles@MrLee@verge
I second this. However, Funkwhale does not integrate directly a support system as far as I know.
FairCamp is probably the best support tool as you're supporting directly the artist (minus the payment processor fees, I guess?).
On the other hand, not everyone is willing or has the possibility to set it up.
The second best might be https://mirlo.space which is also a "Bandcamp-style" kind of thing. Still somehow acts as a middle-man, but for non-techy users is quite a breeze to use.
I've been running @radiofreefedi for almost 2h30 and I'm not disappointed 😁 #NowPlaying "In Cleo's Eyes" by @nigelharpur which is, by the way, a crazy cool song, bravo! 😄
