sigh I'm the physical manifestation of a burned out swamp of asexuality and triggered hatred of hardware and engineering and all it takes is one good Out In Tech meetup and two PDX trans femmes going off about deeply esoteric Unicode protocols, bitbanging, using every I/O port and commiserating about how all the solutions are in soft skills and suddenly I DON'T KNOW WHO I AM OR WHAT I WANT ANYMORE and my pants feel a little funny 🙄😭🤣 AND THIS HAPPENS WITH SOME REGULARITY.

Hot take: I don't think it's unilaterally "great" that "anyone" can share and "teach" people technical or skill-based things, especially relating to "tech".

After 35 years of being taught code, hardware, even physics and math exclusively by men, and never ever feeling like I'm good at it, then teaching myself, mostly through small, grassroots, artistic resources made by women and queer folk...

Men suck at teaching. And won't admit it. And should leave way more space for others.

Ridiculously stoked these designs are working out delightfully 🥰 Heading towards 15 hours of prototyping engineer/hacker themed femme jewelry for #supercon. I always forget this is about the amount of time it takes to get to the sweet spot where I start dialing in things I fuckin want to wear.

My standards are high, so it's a great turning point 😂

@geekmomprojects Not more difficult. I always have the ability to make necklaces, keychains and clip-ons. The clip on earrings have gotten way more popular in recent years with masc folks which is adorable. I make sure to always carry all of those findings, as well as nickel-free earring hooks. Accessibility hecking matters to me and this is something I've learned how to do better.

Today I sewed a zippered tote bag (no electronics, but still cute) that looks like a standard LED. I think it's all out of my system now. Maybe.

  1. I have put in notice at my job at Crowd Supply. After nearly four years, I need to stretch and find new opportunities. It is an amicable separation.
