So many people with ! I’ve never known seven people with it at once in my small circle! Four different households.

I read that is bad for anyone who has had . Can I find that research now…? Nope. I remember it was something to do with blood pressure, heart issues (?) and only to be used under strict medical care.

Anyone know which article it was? I do read a lot of Nature and bmj.

I popped into a couple of shops for my last minute perishable items yesterday. I was the only person masked. It was crowded everywhere. Covid numbers are up. Wastewater numbers are up. Hospitals are very busy. The govt has just got rid of the last covid measures.

I just don’t get it.

Reading about plants adapting to self-pollination due to lack of insects, makes me think that we need a radical rethink about weeds. Dandelions, daisies, buttercups and all the lovely weed flowers need to be loved more so than grass. We need people to realise that grass lawns need to become wildflower lawns ASAP.

I’m back from Wellington. Hardly anyone masked but wow! So many sick people. Lots of coughing, sneezing and blowing noses - lots of shop assistants told me they were just back from having had covid. The flight home was awful - I can’t imagine how many people are going to have Christmas ruined having caught covid on the flight.

And the shops were really quiet. Hardly any customers in except the lunch hour.

Kia Ora!

I’ve decided I’m going to switch my greeting in real life and on line to Te Reo in defiance of the coalition government. It is a simple thing I can do to show that I believe in moving forward not backwards with Indigenous rights.
Anyone want to join me and spread this?

Mainstream news finally picks up what has been known in medical journals for 3 years.UK mirror and The Sun running with vascular issues in almost all Sars cases in children.

If you aren’t following the UK covid enquiry, you should start. There’s so much stuff coming out that a lot of the public isn’t aware. What they knew and when. And what Sars-Covid-19 does.

Why are so few people masking these days? Covid is so well researched. We all can see the devastation long covid causes. And yet people don’t want to protect their health and the health of those around them? I just don’t get it.

I missed the JMM hosted debate last night - deliberately.
Luxon - $60 a week on food?
I guess the rest is bought buy a staffer, or is a takeaway or eaten at a restaurant, and doesn’t get declared as ‘what he bought’.
Ridiculous! And getting more so!

Imagine voting thinking that covid isn’t a huge issue. Thinking covid is not causing long term health issues in the population. Or that long term we can just replace health care workers quickly when they have to leave. Or that it doesn’t cause brain damage. Or strokes. Or heart attacks. Or dementia.

Or that climate change isn’t much of a problem. We can just move whole populations inland. And be clever about what we grow on less land. And cope with the cyclones.

Can anyone give me a invite? I’ve been reading that lots of science people are going there. I will stay here too as I like the vibe but follow lots of epidemiologists on the dark place that shall not be named - who are moving.

I’ve been reading about normalcy bias today.
I still struggle with why seemingly intelligent people aren’t masking, given the enormous weight of what is confirmed about Covid-19.

I was masking all the time indoors before I knew people who were really sick with long covid. Now there are more people struggling with Long covid, there are less people masking. And no politicians - who should be leading from the front.

I sometimes wonder if I’m the only person who knows people hard hit by /long covid. I’m masking. They aren’t. I’m convinced catching covid makes people reckless.

My weekly food bill hasn’t gone up very much in the last few years. I’ve been tracking it. But I buy less and less from supermarkets. I use the local fruit and vege store, bin inn, local Couplands, local butchers… their prices have gone up slightly as you’d expect. But not the crazy supermarket increases!

KiwiNikki,
@KiwiNikki@mastodon.nz avatar

@Kenno the quality is so much better than supermarkets. The sausages are really lovely - and cheaper. I use baking soda for cleaning - and I can buy a couple of kilos which lasts over a year for $10, rather than an expensive spray that lasts a few months.
