I was listening to a thing about the Wahabists who seized the Grand Mosque for about 2 weeks. They had a guy who they thought was the Mahdi, but he denied it, which made them say "ah, only the Mahdi would deny being the Mahdi. This just proves it." The poor guy ended up getting blasted.

how many times have you tried to talk about things that matter to you: wages, healthcare, education, climate, only to be told we can't talk about that right now bc "our candidate" doesn't agree or "can't" do anything about it, so mentioning it is bad for The Election (which is the most important thing, above all other considerations)

it's silly for people to treat "you never talked about Palestine until Oct 7" a gotcha. First, if it's true, who cares? That doesn't make someone care less

Also, it's an issue that was, and to a big extent still is, something you can't talk about too loud. There was, and still is, an entire media/political/educational complex devoted to scaring people away from talking about it.

It only recently became somewhat acceptable to talk about outside of a remote fringe. And it's still dangerous
