I travel a great deal, but mainly commute to work on the 05.17 from Bremen each week day.

I read heavy books, collect old photographs, and write long letters. My working clothes are kilts, but I do own one pair of jeans.

This is a small, occasional record of those travels by train and bus, of books read and letters written, and sometimes the events in between. Posts are automatically deleted after three months.

If anyone is wondering, in the city where I work, why their UPS parcel has been delayed: the driver spent time talking to me, trying to think of a way to retain their driving license.

They'd be better off keeping their foot off the gas pedal, and planning a month's holiday pretty soon.

Our hero, the doctor, comes out of the woods following the search for a missing woman, where two searchers are caught in man-traps. He goes to his car and unlocks it, gets in, and closes the door through the open window.

Why is it impossible for film-makers to get this simple thing right? Who the feck locks their car leaving the driver's window open?

When did publishers stop binding in book ribbons?

Taking a look at my current reading pile, all but one of the German language books have a ribbon sewn in. None of the English language ones do.

There's always someone who tries it on: a person took a certain burger chain to court (yes, them) and sued them for damages and (potential) medical fees after burning themselves on a takeaway cup of tea.

Takeaway containers are marked for hot contents here, and the brewing temperature of between 90°C and 100°C is common knowledge, and that water cools - especially when eight minutes elapse between purchase and accident. It is also common knowledge that the lids do not fit perfectly, and no one should pick their takeaway cup of tea (or coffee) up by the lid.

The complainant lost the case, and was told to try turning commonsense on before going anywhere near hot things in future.
