I was a big Greek mythology buff at school. My dad had bought an encyclopedia in the late '70s, and I was learning everything about it via it. Naturally, my favorite character was goddess Athena. All about knowledge & wisdom. The most kind-hearted of the gods too. So I had to paint a portrait in her honor.

In the last few days I've switched my painting style almost exclusively towards the cottagecore aesthetic, with very limited palettes of muted gouache colors. It's possible that I'm entering a new phase in my art that might last a while. While cottagecore is not a new style for me, I was switching to other themes whenever I felt like painting something different, mostly with watercolor. But having done a few paintings of that style now, it's obvious that gouache is the right medium for it. You need the layering complexity to get the best out of the style, you need the painterly feel and thickness of the paint. So far, I'm having a blast!

Some folk art style I did months ago but only now I scanned. I bought this new scanner, and it's so much better than my 20 year old one! So much more dynamic range, for starters! And better colors. Happy to see Sane under supporting it fully.

Two paintings I did over the Christmas period while in France, to gift to family there. Their style was inspired by artists like Essoldo and Mirdinara.

Hanging laundry, with Canadian watercolors.

I haven't painted much lately. I mostly sit down and watch 1980s videos on youtube about vintage computing (e.g. the "Computer Chronicles" news show, that was apparently shooting very close to where I was living for years in California, but didn't know about it). I've decided that if this was 1977, and money wasn't an obstacle, I'd get a TRS-80 computer rather than an Apple II. And that I wouldn't get a PC until 1984, until the Tandy 1000 came out. In between, I'd get probably an Atari 800, and a C64. By 1985, I'd get an Atari ST, an Amiga, and a Mac 512k. Then an Apple IIgs in 1986, and a NeXT in 1988. After that, in the 1990s, Windows takes hold and it all becomes more mature in terms of tech, and honestly, kinda boring. The early days of personal computing were the exciting ones!

The only exception I'd do is to get a BeBox in 1996, which ran my favorite OS of all time, BeOS. In fact, that's how I met my husband, he was a graphics/kernel/build engineer for Be Inc, and I was a news reporter, and games porter for BeOS. Shame how this amazing OS went down, with Microsoft killing it.

As for Linux, I never found it interesting in its heydays of late 1990s to early 2000s (despite reporting on it a lot for OSNews.com, and testing/reviewing every distro under the sun), because it never worked well on the desktop back then. Not by my standards anyway, for a desktop market that was already maturing fast with Win2000/XP, and OSX. It just never worked right apart from the server sector back then. Linux is more mature now on the desktop, which is why I use Linux a lot more now, than then. I have 5-6 computers dedicated to it (mostly Debian or Ubuntu -- but I'll be moving Ubuntu to Mint), only 1 Windows, and 2 Mac.

Raining days are my favorite. I sleep so well when it rains. It gives me some kind of comfort and safety. Painted with watercolors and gouache.

Missing my home in Greece, Skiadas. And the long hiking, or drive, all the way up to my village's mountain ("Baldenezi"), where a church of prophet Elias is located. Once a year in July all surrounding villagers are getting there to have a feast together. We'd usually eat boiled local goat that people would carry with them and share, but these days it's more like commercial trucks with food... Ah, the good ol' days, when I was 10 and my grandma of 75 yo and yet she was faster than me hiking the difficult terrain to get up there. "C'mon already!", she'd say. Kids those days...

I felt a bit experimental and concept-driven with this painting last night, I'm happy with the outcome. I just wish I had access to the rest of my art supplies. Most of them are still in boxes since our move, because we have no space for them yet in our new home. So I'm stuck with the same Daler Rowney paints since last September.

A new painting after a long time... Not sure I have it in me anymore...

I had to paint some swallows because they're trying to make a nest in our house. Unfortunately, that part of the house is going to be sealed off within 2-3 months (it currently is wide open because our house is not finished, and because if we don't seal off that part, we can't get house insurance), so the worst thing that could happen to them is not being able to return to their babies. So we keep destroying their barely-started nest, daily (because they keep coming back). It sounds cruel, but it's the right thing to do. We already have another swallow nest on an external part of the house, and that's all good. We love to have them there, swallows are great and very smart birds.

If I had to show what my actual "style" is, this painting is a good example. Boring, daily life illustrations. Nothing extraordinary. My main career as a successful artist was as a collage artist, and #surrealism was the name of the game. 10 years of weird things depicted in each artwork. I had enough of it. With illustrations, I just want the mundane. I want peace.

End of #Spring, and beginning of #Summer here in #Greece. Everything's just turning hot... This is a painting I did in December, but only now I have access to a scanner.

All aboard the cottagecore train... I've noticed a lot of new illustrators lately adopting this style. I'm following about 2300 artists on insta and only 7 of them were true cottagecore with the specific style. I think we're near 15 now.

A painting of my mama. She was gifted a Singer sewing machine in 1969, and through that work she fed myself and my brother growing up. We owe our lives to that Singer machine. She still has it. They used to be impossible to break!

The scanned version of my "waiting for the bus" illustration. Colors edited with #TheGimp. The new scanner tends to turn everything a bit red.

This is a painting I did a few months ago but hadn't share, until we bought a scanner here in . It arrived today, I scanned the painting under without any issues (or additional drivers), and I fixed the colors with . It's the first time I use The Gimp for my paintings (I've used The Gimp on and off since its inception, but not for my artworks). I've been using instead for my collages and paintings, but I stopped my subscription a few months ago. It's all now.

A watercolor painting that I'm sharing for the first time, since I was waiting to have access to a better scanner before I do.
