I’m in two minds about school uniform. I don’t like the concept in general, but in my own personal experience, I was glad we did have it. We didn’t have much money, and my mum was really strict about western clothes. I would have been picked on for not having any designer clothes/branded trainers (good old 90s) and wearing Indian clothes.
We didn’t have those stupid logo rules though. As long as it was the right colour and we had a school badge attached to the jumper, it was fine.
My budgie is BFFs with his reflection, as you’d expect. He loves me, but shows no reaction to my reflection. He is usually happy enough to make friends with other people, and he can tell me apart from others.
But he never shows any reaction to my reflection, only his own. If we both stand by the mirror, he’ll tell his mirror friend about his day, he’ll tell my actual hand or nose, but it’s like he can’t even see the reflection of my hand. It’s weird.
Big step for me at least. I’m not using the bike gutters, because I value my life. Nothing else, other than letting you know that some kid somewhere on earth is biking to school....
Good on you, buddy. When you say they don’t talk about it, do you mean among each other or with others? If the former, maybe you could use questions about bike maintenance as a way to start the conversation?
You could just ask something like, what’s the best lubricant for your chain, something like that. You’ll know from that if they’re the type to nerd out about bikes. Good luck!

(you should have lubricated your chains already btw. Give them a clean with degreaser or washing up liquid, let them dry, then add lubricant. Every month or so, more in wet weather. Regular maintenance will save you a lot in repair costs)
It’s 32° in my room. Hooray for second floor, south facing! I have one of those car windshield sunshades on my bedroom window but the heat is still getting in.
I was really looking forward to switching to Linux, but I just can’t get my paint program to run on it. It installs with wine, but launching it does nothing. I tried playonlinux too. Guess I’m back to being Microsoft’s [insert word of choice here].
My Linux box has finally arrived! I did my first sudo last Friday. I got as far as installing ublock origin on Firefox and WINE before I got lazy and called it a day.
The plan this Wednesday is to get all my art software working on WINE and getting all my files transferred over from my netbook. We’ll see if the laziness wins.
But it’s amazing how fast this PC is compared to my crusty old netbook, even though it’s a hand me down.
