What insanity is this. At my Grandad's house a problem with the boiler always running and the radiators being on even when the weather is warm has bugged me. The thermostat is not demanding heat yet the boiler runs and radiators are on.
Today I took everything to bits. Turns out the boiler is a heating only boiler, no hot water output.. The hot water demand is wired into the only input for heating.. so if water tank needs heating - the radiators come on too.

I've been thinking about a #scam I think was played out in a pub a while back.

Customer (scruffy looking, likely homeless or backpacker) comes in on his own and orders food and drink. Pays using a card at the bar (possibly contactless?)

Consumes it..

Then after eating it all goes up to the bar and complains that the table was sticky and unclean. He wants a refund or some money back or something and is being loud and annoying about it and also insists the refund is in cash.

Fresh #Microsoft #Windows hell..

"Bing Chat" bullshit delivered via Windows Update hung the Explorer load on a computer used for playout of music at a radio station. Just resulted in a black screen after the windows splash. THANKS!

Modern computing is such a terrible experience.
Windows is increasingly morphing into an advert delivery platform.

Terrible user experience: Downloading or uploading a large number of files to or from #CloudStorage services like #DropBox and #OneDrive; I regret taking on this task.

Today most of the local networks I monitor spent the day in "Smart Trim" mode as the grid voltage hit 262volts in one location! (257.59volts in another, 255.97volts another and 257.94volts in the final location)
Should I be worried. (These are all several miles apart).

The second common thing similar to "BT run the wires in the street so will be the quickest provider" appears to be "I'm going with Sky broadband to avoid the BT problems". Lots of people think their Sky internet service comes over the satellite dish and avoids any phone line problems they've had in the past.
Recently a road had a cable strike on the fibre feeding the FTTC cabinet. There was a lot of talk on their whatsapp about people moving to Sky to avoid the issue.

I asked bing for some notable recent news events for a village near me. It told me about three. One existed. The other two were invented.
And.. I had to ask it for the references, it didn't provide them until asked.
It included sources which contained the "news event" in question but referenced entirely different places nowhere near the village I had asked it about.

So many people are going to get lied to by AI and won't know if they don't also then go and check the sources.

I don't understand how #MicrosoftWindows start menu is so buggy. Click start, type in expecting it to search, nothing happens. Click away, click start, type, nothing happens. Click away, Click start, type away and it works. It is so regular across so many computers I can't imagine it's just me having that infuriating experience.

It also frustrates me that by far the most lengthy part of this process was the near impossible task of identifying what the existing hinges are to find compatible replacements. Fitting will take seconds! Research took 30 minutes.

I really can't understand the charging schedule settings on the #bmwi3 it appears to just start charging whenever it wants and certainly doesn't stop at the end of the scheduled charge time.

How is #MicrosoftTeams such a poor experience. I do a "Meet now" and it puts me, as the organiser, into the pre-meeting-experience or something.. and no ability to "start" the meeting. People joining just get told the meeting has not started.

Then the other person did the same thing.. and got the same problem! We were entirely unsuccessful in starting a meeting,.
We resorted to #Zoom instead.

The antiperspirant deodorant I've been using for the past "as long as I can remember" appears to have changed their ingredients. I started a new pack this evening and the moment I used it I knew something wasn't the same. Checked the ingredients, several dropped and several new ones.
I don't like the slightly changed fragrance and I wonder if there will be any change in effectiveness.
I wonder why they changed.

#OVH having huge problems on the hypervisor one of my VPSs is on.. can't manage more than about 100mbps down, and 200mbps up - when data is being used the pings up to about 200ms.
If I run "date" on a loop in bash it manages only about 4 to 10 commands per second.. compared to @beasts VPS which manages 870!

OVH support being beyond useless and appearing to not want to do anything until office hours tomorrow unless I upgrade to have better support coverage.

Insane.

Just invented the most insane device.
When anticheat measures in games are so complex and you want a web service to press a key in a game.. SendKeys don't work, attempting to trigger DirectInput also doesn't work.. open up a keyboard and wire onto the required key and connect a WiFi IoT relay to it :D

I can tell it is a Friday... #OVH VPS server has gone super slow and their control panel isn't allowing me to do much to it either. This cloud "someone else's computer" malarkey is a pain in the arse.
