I'm wanting to like this, but since it's Mozilla I figure its just another case of Mozilla overreach. I still want to know how much the new CEO is making, and how much Mitchell Baker continues to take home as chairperson: Building open, private AI with the Mozilla Builders Accelerator https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/mozilla-builders-accelerator/

BrideOfLinux,
@BrideOfLinux@mastodon.opencloud.lu avatar

@sjvn I think Google effectively removed Mozilla as competition many years ago simply by handing them hundreds of millions of dollars on an ongoing basis. They completely lost their focus, since they now seemed to have an endless supply of money.

BrideOfLinux,
@BrideOfLinux@mastodon.opencloud.lu avatar

@researchbuzz @sjvn Yup. And they also quit focusing on Firefox, their crown jewels and whole reason for existing, to the point where it became just another browser. As they say, they had one thing to do...

BrideOfLinux,
@BrideOfLinux@mastodon.opencloud.lu avatar

@researchbuzz @sjvn The fact that Mitchell Baker was taking home nearly $7 million a year as CEO is shenanigans enough for me. There's no way that I can see to justify that kind of robbery.

BrideOfLinux,
@BrideOfLinux@mastodon.opencloud.lu avatar

@researchbuzz @sjvn Yeah. But even if CEO pay is crazy across the board, this was above and beyond "reasonable," even by that measure. The less money Mozilla realized from Google, by far its chief source of income, the more money she got paid.In 2018 she was paid $2.4 million. In 2022, $6.9 million.

BrideOfLinux,
@BrideOfLinux@mastodon.opencloud.lu avatar

@researchbuzz @sjvn Getting pretty darn close to 3X. I don't know what she made in 2023, but I'm betting it was up again.
