🆔 Humboldt Penguin (Spheniscus humboldti)
“The title compares the black and white plumage of the penguins to the black and white robes of Dominican monks. It was intended to be both gently comic and more bitingly satirical.”
April 25 is #WorldPenguinDay so enjoy some Adélie penguins! ⠀
⠀
⠀
This handsome couple, two Adélie penguins (Pygoscelis adeliae), common to all the Antarctic coasts, are hand printed in black ink with a hint of orange on white Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper. Each print is 12.5” x 9.25” (31.8 cm x 23.5cm). Adélie penguins are the most widely spread and southernly penguins (along with the Emperor penguins).⠀

Przedstawiam wam zatem Kokosankę i Tuxa, bardzo znane pingwiny :)
Kokosanka to albinotyczna pingwinka z ZOO w Gdańsku (zdjęcie ze strony ZOO).
A Tux to chyba wszystkim znana maskotka Linux-a.
I had Slackware Linux that I bought in a store. It came with a book containing all of the help files. Today I'd need a forklift.
I ran a home network on it. I gave all of it to the late Martin Minow at #Apple back when they were checking out #Linux.
Martin had every Apple ever made in his office & he instrumented everything. Would post results in the hallway to shame inefficient coders. He was awesome to work with. #worldpenguinday
For #WorldPenguinDay check out this delightful #ArtDeco#penguin cocktail shaker/jug! 🐧
"This special edition for the 1939 New York World’s Fair may have been produced to complement an exhibit called Admiral Byrd’s Penguin Island...[it] featured 50 live penguins, the largest number ever shown."
"Probably acquired by King George VI & Queen Elizabeth during their visit to the fair."
Designed by Emil Arthur Schuelke, silver plate, 31.6x13.2x11.5cm, Royal Collection Trust: https://www.rct.uk/collection/101775/cocktail-shaker-or-jug
Today is #WorldPenguinDay, so it's the perfect day to read an account about the sex lives of Adélie penguins which was so shocking it was suppressed for over 100 years.
