Summer and I took a tour of the garden to assess how the plants fared with our recent storm.
Everything got Summer's approval.

It's very hot here in Florida right now, but we've been able to get to the Little Lake Manatee State Park down the street a few times when it gets cloudy. A breeze also helps!

Summer still wanted to be outside because a dastardly gopher mound popped up on her front acre. I'm sure the gopher missed her no trespassing vibes.
I told her no digging, so she is going to stare it down instead.
If the gopher is smart, it will find its friends and move into the neighbors yard.

I have 1 rule when it comes to weather. You can only "hate" 1 season. If you hate 2 seasons or more, then you probably should consider relocating.
I really hate summer. Hot, sweaty, sun burning off your skin. Even in the morning, that morning run... not enough white reflective layers in the world.
On the plus side, it did inspire the song "Chasing Shadows"!

Summer and I decided we needed some fresh air and exercise.My husband wasn't home yet, so we left him a note to heat up the hot chocolate and warm the muffins we left for him and that we would be back from the beach soon.
Today is warm with a mild wind, so I didn't even take a jacket.
Summer was so excited that she frolicked until she couldn't frolick any more.

One day I'll manage to stay up until midnight (already a very late night for me), but this is nearly 11 pm in Scottish summer. You could easily see your way without streetlights. A very peaceful, bluetoned twilight.
My absolute favourite time of year. These long days will never not be magical.
Another morning with just Grandma for company. She says she will wait to eat her breakfast when her pal gets home. It should only be another hour or so.
The good news is no more doctor appointments until next Wednesday.
