@pkw Back in the 1960's there was a dream of a worker/student alliance. With the UAW at UCLA and with the Ontario Federation of Labour at the University of Toronto, we have one.
Northwestern U journalism prof Steven Thrasher was on #DemocracyNow this morning and they referenced this article.
It's bittersweet. These protest camps are beautiful and inspiring, but attempts -- by college admins, politicians, police, and journalists to extinguish and discredit them is disgusting.
> I’ve also met more caring, compassionate colleagues at their camps than in any other venue over my years in Chicago. The shared goals of these encampments—to divest from an apartheid state and end the genocide in Gaza—are not anything to be ashamed about. They are moral and righteous desires. Nor are these fringe positions; they are desired by the majority of the people on this planet.
"White nationalists and neo-Nazis joined forces with Zionists (including some saying they were Israelis) to attack UCLA’s Palestine Solidarity Encampment, whose residents included a large number of Jewish students. The assailants were not affiliated with the university. One neo-Nazi was heard shouting, “we’re here to finish what Hitler started,” without any apparent protest from the self-identified Zionists. At least one person present has been identified as an associate of the Proud Boys."
Students are making history. All of us should join them

Statement from Ontario Federation of Labour President Laura Walton on the one month anniversary of the start of the university protests in solidarity with Palestine.
Like if you wrote this into a movie you'd be called antisemitic because it would be antisemitic, but its reality. So now the antisemetic right will jump all over this as a reason to persecute all Jewish people. These Zionists are the fkin worst.
FYI: the problem is Colonial Capitalism, not the fact that some members of the Colonial Ruling Class are Jewish.
