I watched The Acolyte last night, and forgot to share about it here!
Spoiler-free first impressions thread:
• I really like this era. 100 years before Episode III is close enough to the prequels to feel much more like them than anything else, but also, the Jedi are more at their peak than even then.
• So far there have been no references to or appearances of characters or planets that we know besides Coruscant. And I’m okay with this.
Spoiler-free impressions of The Acolyte, continued:
• I like the vibe of the show. It feels different. It should: it is in a period we have never seen before with characters we have never met, facing a galaxy in a state we’ve never known.
• There were moments that reminded me of The Expanse, of a martial arts film, of a mystery/thriller flick. I like this combination. I want more!
• I love the cast of characters. Not too trope-y but… a little.
Watched the first episode of #TheAcolyte and it was ok. It's ok #StarWars, better than #Ahsoka or #ObiWan or #TBOBF. But just ok. It's no #Andor and it has stupid dialogue and it looks odd. But I'm a sucker for Jedi and #SWTOR like settings, so this is intriguing. But man how I wish we would get a proper movie with proper budget and vision and not just TV scraps from the Volume.
Just watched the first two episodes of The Acolyte. I am very pleased!
The look and sounds feel so much like classic Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. I found myself giddy just at the sets, the film look, the spooky moody soundscapes.
I'm really hooked into the characters and plot. I love the touch of mysterious surreal. Basically, I'm really liking this show all around so far.
I watched the first episode of The Acolyte. I’m not sure that this is true #StarWars. They used safety devices like clips and harnesses! What’s next, railings on catwalks that span weirdly common abysses?
This <$100 thing might be the most performant machine I own. 😆
Also, I've been experimenting a bit with #NomadBSD lately. It's not quite as polished as a Linux distro, but it's mighty nice! (Persistent #FreeBSD-based boot USB image, can do UFS or ZFS and optionally encrypt)
I picked falcon because it was old and a little beat up, but also very functional. rogueone because it was a bit of a rebellious device (a $200 ARM linux laptop!), and Excelsior was especially poignant because of an elegant, but unstable machine.
