Hello, @itsfoss! Any recommendation for buffered #SoundEffects player (not soundboard)?
All these "simple" audio players have a crippling delay at the start of every file operation and don't repeat the sound on demand, so I've had a struggle finding one player that would be nice to short #SFX.
Extra points if it can handle multiple files open (keep each #SoundEffect in memory for fast play).
ok, someone came up with an idea of having a screen reader friendly drum machine thing. so basically, it's on bgt, and it just plays a drum sample everytime you press a key on the keyboard.
so here's the thing, my almost 2 year old son loves to play with my laptop just pressing random keys. so i thought, why not change the sound samples to a baby friendly sounds and let him play with it.
anyone has a collection of sound samples i can use? animal sounds, car sounds, baby sounds, funny sounds anything will do, preferably in .WAV format. thank you! #Blind#BlindParenting#Baby#Sounds#SoundEffects

Sound designer Ben Burtt is responsible for some of the most iconic sounds in film. Most notably in the Star Wars franchise. This includes R2-D2’s voice, Darth Vader’s breathing, blasters, and, of course, the lightsaber.
This lightsaber clip has been shared all over the web. Consequently I don’t know the source. But it’s fascinating.

One of my colleagues just showed us the BBC Sound Effects library which includes a "mixer" (AKA SoundBoard). It's free to use for non-commercial stuff e.g. School plays etc. and has over 33k sound effects.
You can download and/or share "mixes"/SoundBoards on the web, e.g.:
Josh Harmon is a foley artist who calls himself a drummer and a comedian. Foley art is as inventive as it gets. I love seeing how creative these folks can be.
For those after sound effects, there's a new collection available on the Internet Archive as 3 ZIP files - just over 23G worth,

William Johnson is a sound designer, producer, and percussionist. He works on records and film scores.
He’s quite inventive overall. But this particular use of super balls on drums/cymbals is unreal. The sounds he makes here are unearthly and eerie to the bone.
