Now that I know that there are AI generated recipes out there (recipes!?!), with weird photos because they are also AI generated, I'm much more inclined to go with the recipe sites I'm already aware of. And if I get tempted by others then only those that don't drown in ads, that would likely be the tell.
My grandmother was reportedly not an enthusiastic cook, but she dutifully collected recipes by word of mouth, or by newspaper and magazines. Home economics was required coursework for girls, a century ago. Most cake recipes conclude with “Bake in mod. oven” since they didn’t have temperature calibration.
Here’s one she transcribed called Weary Willie Cake. Looks very free form and adjustable. #Recipes#VintageCookbook
Special #Breakfast this Sunday morning. #MasalaOats from "Parsi" by Farokh Talati and South Indian #FilterCoffee with Oat Milk. The oats were fantastic and pretty easy to makee. Vegetarian but can be vegan without Ghee.
We are so excited to go through more #recipes in this book!
Siobhan Ball introduces readers to the history and folklore of the humble lentil, a legume associated with prosperity, good luck, and cures for hangovers, and offers a recipe for a delicious spiced lentil soup.
I love watching a Malay language cooking YouTubers like Che Nom, and then sad crying when she puts thirty bird’s eye chillies into her food and I reminisce about how I might have lost my ability for that spice level now because I’m too far from home for too long (maybe just 10)
This is my absolute fave Malay dish. Its name is just ‘coconut creamy ‘curry’ with birds eye chillies’. It doesn’t even matter what protein you use tho it’s usually chicken, sometime seafood, and it’s what I would have for lunch at school before I fall into a food coma after lunch in class
I made a really good moussaka a few days ago and I’ve just been eating little pieces of it. It’s one of the things I can eat for every meal (when it’s good!)

My wife found this easy no-knead bread recipe and it’s been something we do every other day.
We like good white bread but don’t like the supermarket white breads here, so it’s been nice to be able to quickly do something like this. Unlike many other no-knead recipes it also comes together very quickly without too much planning needed!
Purists will tell you there's only one way to make spaghetti carbonara, but the folk at Food & Wine have come up with a @Flipboard Storyboard that has 14. They've created versions with smoked gouda, clams, goat cheese and even the dreaded cream (don't worry, there's a classic egg, guanciale, Parmigiano-Reggiano combination there too). Check out all the recipes here. We want to know, are you a food purist or a kitchen maverick?
"When Debra calls back to tell me the recipe, I don’t allow her to tell me how to mix the ingredients. I want the muscle memory in my body to guide me back across the back roads of Kentucky to Indian Creek into the screen door of our grandmother’s kitchen." —Crystal Wilkinson for Oxford American
Okay I finally did it and it turned out awesome! I've never had the gluten-free variety batter or panko before. I'm very grateful it exists for me since I can't have gluten anymore 🙌👍😀
