I have a cli script which looks like this:
->run($argv[1], $argv[2]);

the 2nd parameter is optional and has a default value. Is there a way to not pass $argv[2] if it is not present to not run into

run(): Argument #2 ($path) must be of type string, null given

Or do I need to test this and have two different calls?

I still need to take a closer look at the toots of @shadowserver but it seems to be an other argument against and on Windows to the boss and customers… 🙄

It's PHP's birthday! 29, years old today.

A cake cut out a slice off, and the big side taken.

It boils my blood to hear folks insinuate that is the source of their performance problems and they should switch to microservices in another language to fix the performance issues. Maybe spend a little bit of time figuring out where your bottlenecks are and fix those, first!

(This may or may not be a sub-toot.)

What’s the difference between memory usage and peak memory usage?

(As in 's memory_get_usage() and memory_get_peak_usage() functions.)

Here are my top 5 favorite Composer packages in #php (in no particular order):

  1. mezzio/*
  2. psr/*
  3. monolog/monolog
  4. league/flysystem
  5. symfony/console

There are many others I love but I find myself using these on most if not all projects.

I have used #php for over twenty years. I know it’s power and I’ve seen it mature as a first class language.

Haters will hate. But PHP is one of the most powerful and versatile languages in the world.

From CLI to web and everything in between, PHP can do it. You can and should feel good about choosing PHP for your project.

A quick question to my fellow developers here. Does anybody have a suggestion for Spider / crawler library in PHP?

6.5.0 is a big update that updates the Browse&Query classes into smaller pieces.

This work helped find and close a lot of issues which you can easily miss in 5k line classes.

Work moves on to Ampache7!

Another cool feature of the #Laravel 'Number' helper is the abbreviation function. Especially useful for dashboards and stuff.

In the latest #PHP project I'm busy with over the last several month, there are a couple of tools for code style & static analysis. #PhpStan among them, of course.

Now, the funny thing is, I've never had it complain about anything, although the config seemed to be fine, with a couple of ignored errors that were a bit tricky to get rid of. Note that its level is set to 'max'. Am I that good? Damn, that feels great!

HOWEVER... (continued)

"Blueprint" generates code for your app. Create draft.yaml, define what to generate, package handles the boilerplate stuff for you. This example generates a controller, factory, migration, model and test. Very neat to begin a project with.

And yet again, using Docker (via Lando) plus XDebug + PHPStorm = things just don't bloody work, despite all the settings being correct.

I really wish this were not such a regular occurrence. I don't even know which tool to blame.

Currently updating one of our biggest sites from v3 to v5. 1000+ entries and multisite. At first I thought it would be a pain but seeing how everything looks "new" now and feels lighter is absolutely worth the effort
