Also, maybe you intended for this to be the obvious conclusion of your own, and if it was I agree. It won't matter if we use BlueSky, #Mastodon or #nostr in the end. Content will mostly federate freely inbetween the protocols.
As an example: If people ask me if I'm still on #IRC the answer is "yes", although for me IRC channels are just additional #Matrix rooms nowadays.

Ich habe durch ein Video von AlphaKevin eben erfahren, dass diese Pillen Anspielung „red-piller“ von extremenm rexhten und/oder sehr krass #frauenverachtenden „Männerrechtlern“ benutzt wird.
Mit war das bis eben nicht bewusst, die Anspielung war in meinem Profil - weil ich den Matrix Film für seine Story, Erzählweise, und die Filmaufnahme (sind für mich bis heute einfach nur Kunst) extrem wertschätze.

There's one main thing I like about #BlueSky, #Nostr, #Cwtch, and the in-development P2P-ified #Matrix over #ActivityPub and Matrix as they're generally deployed now: your ID doesn't depend on DNS.
I've not been in the Fediverse very long, but I've already seen people lose their entire social graph because an admin unilaterally took down an instance. When you tie your identity to DNS, you're at the mercy of the domain owner and every point of control over the DNS as a whole, including the court systems in every authoritarian jurisdiction. Not your keys, not your identity.
I like the admins of my instance here, but I see the toll it takes on them running it even with the community's contributions. It's a lot of pressure and a lot of power to have that much control over identity and trust for your users.
I don't think we have to wholesale move to other protocols, though. The beauty of open networks is the freedom to build bridges. When people do migrate between them, it can and should be as smooth as migrating between ActivityPub instances in the happy path, and remain fully interoperable.

@rahmstorf #Matrix macht da hoffnung, finde ich. ein protokoll, um chat programme so zu bauen, dass sie miteinander können. Und mit video, und gruppen, und was man halt so braucht... es kann sich sogar (begrenzt) mit existierenden messengern verbinden, wobei das ne krücke bleibt... @matrix
I’ve been very supportive of @Gargron in the past, I quite like his vision for #Mastodon and I understand a lot of the decisions he’s made in regard to unified design and governance over the project that lots of other people seem to disagree with.
But, this latest change to the official mobile app—promoting mastodon.social over everything else—is exceptionally bad, no way around it. It’s the biggest problem that #Matrix chat has too, and I REALLY don’t want to see it here.
Hm, just got a #Matrix invite link, opted for one of the #web clients to check it out, then the welcome screen tells me that communication is end to end encrypted.
Uhm yes. E2E #encryption in a hosted application? How does that work without key escrow? Not to mention that I can't register anonymously. So either my email provider, Telco, #Google, #Microsoft,... can hack into my account.
Can't recommend this service if #privacy is a concern.
