Watch: Lightning Strikes as Metallica Plays 'Master of Puppets' Live (and It Was at the Perfect Moment)
The heavens want you to obey your master.
Okay, Jukebox Friday Night's theme is Live Performances.
So, here's one I've enjoyed. It's Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes with Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy performing Travie's song Billionaires. It's great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nn8REOqqCjo
We were at this gig, although we're not any of the whooping crowd you can hear. We'd just put up with an average-at-best performance by Marilyn Manson before this and we knew Rob Zombie was going to blow that away. He did, and then some. Top quality showmanship and stage artistry.
This is what happens when Dolly Parton turns up in a pub somewhere in Co. Kerry. I love everything about this, from Dolly herself, to Steve Cooney who looks like he can't believe his luck, to the locals joining in on the chorus.
Coat of Many Colours - Dolly Parton and Steve Cooney
My offering is not so much a live performance, more a work of art. Blows my mind every time I watch this
In context, on British TV in the 60s, a Black man, a rare sight in itself at the time, with a bone through his nose, providing a frankly terrifying performance of a voodoo waltz. Jay leant into colonial prejudice. I can only imagine the amount of tea spat out watching this
In honor of Nemophila's #LivePerformance in less than 24 hours at Budokan, here's a song from their first concert as Nemophila in front of a live audience.
This was coming out of COVID restrictions, so the audience was only allowed to clap, no shouting. It was still quite an emotional night.
Here's David Bowie performing Scary Monster and Rebel Reel on the Serious Moonlight Tour. I saw this in Auckland but vid is from Vancouver. Auckland concert had about 40,000 in audience. Great energy. #ISawThis https://youtu.be/e1cWEWN-ym8
Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name Live Flight 666
When the priest comes to read me the last rites
Take a look through the bars at the last sights
Of a world that has gone very wrong for me
Can it be that there's some sort of error?
Hard to stop the surmounting terror
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?
