I hope everyone had a great holiday. I'm back in the saddle from a full week of slacking my ass off. Not gonna lie, it was great.
One of my projects today is to lay out strategies to continue building this community in '24 - including creative ways to establish our "identity" as a regional instance.
What would you like to see on #HoosierSocial in '24? What improvements would you suggest? Remember that this is our community. Let's build it together!
“He’s experienced, allergic to personal scandal and prepared to serve as our next president on day one,” says #Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb in a statement endorsing fellow Hoosier Mike Pence in #Election2024.
I know #BobbyKnight was a significantly flawed character, but for those of us who grew up in rural #Indiana where the chances of you going out and doing something remarkable in the world were very slim, he was someone who blatently looked and spoke like us and achieved a whole lot while doing it. He was an inspiration and a role model to many to push yourself to do the right thing and be better beyond your excuses. His life didn't always reflect that, but he was and remains an absolute legend.
It's my first Friday in many years that I don't get paid to watch bill filings in #InLegis and the first crop dropped last night while my colleagues and I were out celebrating my new freedom. (All our phones erupted simultaneously at the restaurant lol).
But I'll still be tracking the legislative session and commenting here with a particular eye for direct attacks on the LGBTQ community.
General comments for non-habitual #Indiana session watchers:
Hubs finished RAIN sub 12 hours total time this year. 165.72 miles; 3048ft of elevation. 9:26:15 moving time. 17.6mph average. #Indiana#RAIN#RAINRide#BikeTooter
Jasper #Indiana is featured on the latest episode of the 99% Invisible podcast for the role played in the introduction of the in-sink garbage disposal.
"In the middle of the 20th century, the small town of Jasper, Indiana did something that no other city had done before: they made garbage illegal. The city would still collect some things, like soup cans and plastics, but yucky junk, like food waste, wouldn’t get picked up."
“'One should not be able to hide behind a corporate shield when issuing statements supporting the actions of terrorists,' Ackman said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter."
Hey #HoosierMast! Early voting has been open since the 11th!
Have you voted? Do you have a plan to vote on or before election day? Have you checked to make sure that your voter registration is still active and valid? Do you have the necessary ID?
NEW: #Indiana's Republican-controlled Legislature passes a bill to impose an additional requirement on first-time voters to prove their residency and make it easier to purge voters from the rolls. Voting advocates argue the bill will burden student voters.
