I'm thinking of unifying my home automation scripts. There is a wide range of stuff. From collecting info from web (e.g outside temperature, electricity-price), to indoor temperature. At the moment the scripts are mostly in bash and R.

I want your opinion on should I have the main backbone in R or python?

Anyone know of some good WiFi wall sockets that would work with Home Assistant?

I'd like some plugs to control some lights around the house or some other bits

Any home automation tips welcome!

People are always complaining about how #TheJetsons promised flying cars, but at this point, I'd settle for the bed that helps you stand up in the morning.

The bed, now without covers, has tilted up nearly vertically, and George is about to slide down into a standing position on the conveyor belt that will bring him to the bathroom.

I made my Itho mechanical ventilation smart with Home Assistant.

The fan speed is based on the CO2 level in the living room and bedroom. The fan speed also changes on the humidity level in the bathroom.
I made it possible to ajust the speed level manually if needed.

@homeassistant The possibilities are endless with Home Assistant. 🥳

Despite working in the electronics field, I never really got into #smarthome stuff. But lately I have been trying out #homeassistant and was excited that a friend from Chicago Meetups, @kbx81, has been working at #NabuCasa on the #esphome project.

https://theamphour.com/657-automating-the-home-with-keith-burzinski/

I spoke with Keith about how to get started as a beginner in the field, but then also how to put some custom electronics to work in a #homeautomation context. I was impressed with how fast I could add a #zigbee device to my HA

If I sold my house today. I feel like I need to leave behind instruction manual with network diagrams and information on zigbee devices. I have no intentions of selling soon. But this keeps crossing my mind anytime I work on my homelab or home automation #homeautomation #zigbee #homelab

Home Assistant delivers SO MUCH MORE than Apple Home! It’s not even close.

You don’t have to be a geek to create a dashboard like mine. Just a little patience and a willingness to learn.

I have seen some dashboards that make mine look preschool-level. Seriously. Go check out Bubble Cards or Minimalist and get ready to be blown away.

Appliance manufacturer Haier is bullying open source developers who produce smart home integrations.

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/haier-hits-home-assistant-plugin-dev-with-takedown-notice/

The brands they produce are: General Electric Appliances, Hotpoint, Hoover, Fisher & Paykel, and Candy. I will not purchase any of these brands.

(My GE oven has the additional darling feature of holding certain functions hostage unless you install their mobile app.)

ok. I'm at a loss. I'm hoping someone in the #FOSS / #HomeAutomation / #HomeAssistant /#Google Venn Nexus will have the answer?

"Is it possible for my Google Nest Cam to link to my Google Nest speakers to announce when it detects someone at the door?"

It SHOULD be possible. But I cannot find a way.

My wife is hard of hearing, we have a doorbell downstairs but she can't hear it up in her office in the attic.

We have Google nest speakers up there and all over the house. Thought it could help

Irgendwie bekomme ich den ConBee III nicht sauber an den HomeAssistant.
Oder der Scan findet keine Zigbee Devices.
Irgendwas ist ja immer. 🥴

Dieses deconz verliert aller Nase die Verbindung.

Also doch einen anderen Stick?
Oder liegt das daran, dass ich den HA als KVM Instanz laufen habe?

I just moved my #HomeAssistant instance from #Odroid N2+ (aka Home Assistant Blue) to a #Proxmox VM. It was as easy as backup and restore, thanks to a VM creating script from here: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/installing-home-assistant-os-using-proxmox-8/201835
