Pico peak on the AT/LT. Saw Strava activity on Killington last week, just a ribbon of snow with skiers in t-shirts.

from sunset at Dog Mountain a few days ago. The hills are alive with the sound of balsam root jumping around! Mainly because it was pretty windy! Also around were paintbrush here and there, lots of cow-parsnip(?) and occasional chocolate lily! Seems like the lupines are finished for the season.

Bright yellow sunflower-like balsam root in the lower foreground, a bunch of long stalked white cow-parsnip(?), and trees in the background with blue sky visible through the branches.
A single tree that seems to be dancing in a field of blossoming balsomroot under a blue sky.
Chocolate Lily, aka checker lily, aka Fritillaria affinis. Small flowers that have a kind of mottled texture of dark red with yellow sprinkles.

@enog I love the red wing blackbirds! We have lots here. They are very aggressive if you're near their territory. Basically, if you're smaller than a lightweight aircraft - they will try & challenge & drive any perceived threat away. I've seen them team up & go after mature bald eagles before. They are little in size but immensely brave. Super tough, defensive fighter birds!

@msquebanh

Yes, he was very aggressive, getting really close to me, making a lot of noise😉 especially when I was walking. When I stopped moving, he became less aggressive 🤔

Here she is!

Marden Stone Circle. Built in the Neolithic age. I just marvel at the age of these structures and who stood here and decided Yep. Good place to whack some stones up I reckon!

This is the largest circle on Dartmoor at 38m. Although only a handful of stones remain, it's still impressive, and the view across to Dartmoor is astonishing.

Birds dart through the gorse. The air is still.

A stone stands upright, curving slightly towards the ground. Behind it a few more squat stones follow on an arc. The grass is dotted with buttercups and there is gorse in the background.
Close up of the standing stone. Mottled with weathering where minerals stand proud.
A view across the circle showing its shape mostly outlined by earth works and a scattering of stones. One stone stands in the foreground, patterned with lichens. The hills roll away into the haze beyond
