As of today I’ve finished the main research for my next #embroidery piece, this very large #VagusNerve . I did an audio course on polyvagal theory to gain some experiential knowledge of my own neuroception. Next step is to write some poetic text. In the meantime I need to finish my liver embroidery before I start stitching this one. #SciArt
Started work on another quick embroidery, another Celtic knot. Thinking I might try outlining this one with a split stitch when I'm done filling in the shapes, see how that works out. Still trying to decide on the colour for that outline though… :thinking_rotate:
Here’s a bit of sewing I’ve recently finished. I’ve counted each thread I’ve sewn over, in the centuries-old tradition of blackwork (but in red). It’s slow, meditative work, which suits me very well.
It is home to several #UNESCO#World#Heritage Sites, including the ancient city of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. Uzbekistan is also known for its traditional #crafts, such as ceramics, #embroidery, and #weaving .
My latest needle painted embroidery, loosely based on a Pinterest picture. Many hours of work, but thoroughly enjoyable. #embroidery#needlepainting#landscape
My sashiko embroidery is coming along nicely 🌸🪡 This design is less work-intensive than the geometric design that I did last time so progress is faster. It is lovely to spend time on the sofa with Molly, quietly stitching away.
I am taking a limited number of embroidered badge slots to be finished in time for FWA. Badges are $75 plus shipping. Order form and commission info: https://forms.gle/4jKE1Gs7hC8Re4kn7
A bigger image of the #embroidery piece I’m using as my avatar: paresthesia (face) from 2016. This is part of my #symptomatology series making my invisible #MECFS symptoms visible.
I wanted to make something to remember my late cat, Garrus. So I chose a picture of him from happier times, and turned it into a blackwork piece #embroidery@fiberarts
I have a landscape and architecture show coming up in June at Archival Gallery in Sacramento. I have been busy cranking out new pieces. I'm thankful I get to put all day, everyday into #art. It was time to send in photos for promotion so I got the new ones framed up in their wood hoops. It's a pretty good new collection. Here's a quick shot of the new ones sitting on our table. #embroidery#embroideryartist#landscapes#artwork#saturday#mastoart#handmade
Migrating from one instance to another means my #embroidery posts got lost despite still circulating, so I’m going to reshare a few, starting with this french knot color wheel that I spent a month stitching to see if I could make the colors come back around to themselves. #art#womensart
Here is one of my many intuitive embroideries where I chose a color palette and just see what the threads feel like doing. Often the threads want to act like hair and water.
This is another in the same intuitive #embroidery genre that I stitched earlier this year. In retrospect it looks a lot like the arrival of spring. (Posted before but on the other account so lost to mastodon).
