I hate the framing I see constantly around "Odontophobia" (#dental phobia). Every piece of research that comes out seems to indicate that it is consistently rooted in trauma, and yet even psychologists will dismiss that explanation and continue to frame it as a phobia rooted in an irrational fear.
Even in the research you often have to get past the first line to see it, and this goes way back.
For example: Differential diagnosis of odontophobic patients using the DSM-IV (1995)
Okay, so I have a #dentist appointment today. Something I always do literally right before going to the dentist is brush my teeth and floss. One last brush through before I go.
The Government of Canada has awarded Sun Life Assurance Company, a $15 million contract to lay the groundwork for the upcoming Canada Dental Benefit.
The new dental program is expected to launch in the fall of 2023 & is expected to provide coverage to families making less than $90k/year. Those making less than $70k/year will not have co-pays.
I keep getting sharp pain in one of my lower right back molars. It only happens when chewing and I bite down a certain way, with food in the teeth. The pain is similar to that of a cavity. HOWEVER:
-there is no pain with temperature change
-there is no pain unless I'm chewing something
-X-rays have shown no cracks or decay
-I've had my bite adjusted several times already
-I just had a cleaning where they examined everything AGAIN, and X-Rayed AGAIN, and saw no issues
I've had my bite adjusted like... 3 times now. My dentist is conservative about it - pain recedes, then it comes back again.
I've tried wearing a night guard and it doesn't seem to help. I know I grind my teeth, so shouldn't the night guard be dimming the pain, not increasing it?
Researchers discovered a connection between elevated white blood cells in the saliva of healthy young adults and an early cardiovascular disease warning sign. What if detecting early indicators of cardiovascular disease was as simple as analyzing a saliva sample? Researchers believe they've discove
Do electric toothbrushes usually go bad pretty fast? My old electric toothbrush I found in my downstairs bathroom was already dead. This week my fancy Smart rechargeable one died (turns on but the motor stops), only 3? years old.
I guess the AA battery ones are cheap enough to replace, but the Bluetooth one with the app is NOT
Hi there, perhaps you need a break from wild conspiracy theories, death threats against admins, threats to defederate from air, Santa and anything else deemed unacceptable? 😂 I know I could 🙈😆
Well, if so…here’s a drawing I made for my preschool kid’s lunchbox after losing his first tooth. Featuring “Dr. Tooth”, a dentist with a moustache that also happens to be a large talking tooth.
Hey all, a loved one needs some emergency dental work and their insurance won't cover it. We are fundraising to cover the costs, if you could spread the word or donate anything at all, we would be extremely grateful. Thank you so much https://gofund.me/141edc16 #mutualaid #emegency #help
Thank you all for your generous help. Thanks to you, we are already at ~14% of our goal. If you have access to other platforms, mutual aid groups, friends, or can share the campaign with anyone, I would be eternally grateful. I hate seeing my loved one in daily pain, and anything helps. Thank you for your help as the US medical system fails us again
We have hit ~18%! Please keep boosting, and if you have Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr, I have shared social links to spread the word of the fundraisers on those platforms in the gofundme bio. Anything helps, donating or spreading the message wherever you can. We are still working to get it on TikTok or IG, so if you post it on either of these, please reach out with the link and I'll gratefully add it to the collection of social resources. Thank you all for your help in our time of need. I just want my loved one to be out of this entirely fixable pain
19% and growing! Please keep sharing wherever you can, and donate if you are able. Even a dollar helps get a young queer person stuck in a red state out of completely fixable, constant dental pain at the hands of merciless insurance.
~27%! We have made it past the 1/4 way mark thanks to your generous support and help sharing this fundraiser far and wide. Every penny brings us closer to getting my loved one out of pain, and I cannot put into words how grateful I am. thank you for your continued support
~41%!! Almost halfway there!! Please keep sharing and donating if you can, every interaction is one step taken closer to ending this awful pain. Amidst all the other horrible things going on in Oklahoma both legislatively and weather wise, ending this suffering will be a huge relief for Griffin and all his loved ones who are hurting with him.
If you use any other social media, we have other links to share the fundraiser on the GoFundMe page, and if you see a place it isn't already posted and want to share it there, please reach out and send the link our way so we can add it!
I wanted to share an update with everyone. Griffin went in for his first of two visits to get the procedure completed and he is now OUT of constant agony!! 🥳🥳🥳 Your help through donating and sharing has made this possible, we cannot thank you enough. please continue to share and donate if you can! There's one more visit we have to attend to complete the work, so we are leaving the fundraiser up for now to help pay off the expense of the procedure.
