I have no idea how much time I spen(d|t) on #OpenSource work, I only know it's in the thousands. I should start logging it, but I'm not used to it (at #DayJob I just log 9-to-6) and I feel it's too late now anyway.
To my fellow #developers, do you do it, and if so, how?
Nearly there. Lots of little railway coach bogies, 32 altogether. The stack at the rear have the step boards attached, those at the front still to go. Then to think about painting things without gumming all the suspension up.
I’m going to give myself a weekend off to celebrate getting over this #DayJob hurdle.
I've just wrapped up a bigger contract as a software developer and before I start a new one, I want to properly learn #rust#rustlang . I've been putting this off for about two years, and I feel that as a fullstack with just #JavaScript and #Python I'm missing a more performant (and safe) language.
I'm learning with The Rust Book, Rust in Action and Rustlings.
Any tips, any #floss projects worth contributing to after I'm done with the basics?
I would simply like more people to know & enjoy this: when we studied the visibility of engineering work in our Developer Thriving project, I described visibility as top-down (from leaders to managers and ICs) as well as bottom up (from ICs and managers to leaders).
Besides being a description, this is also a reference to the language science uses about ATTENTION. Bottom-up attentional shift occurs in response to unanticipated information, it's adaptive and agile--and not directed from the top.
@grimalkina
There's a flavour of agile called xscale that is influenced by ecosystem theory. It's designed to model that flow of "change" , "attention", "decision making" in multiple directions with its Camelot constructs. Disclaimer: I was involved early on, but and would love to work on it more,but distracted with #dayJob.
This is painful @mjgardner, my #DayJob literally have teams of people spending weeks of effort trying to hunt down sources of more-recent completely outdated libraries
so they can compile on the even-more-outdated operating system that is #RunningJustFineDamnit
for the mildly-outdated unsupported application they want to run there.

Ottimo e interessante articolo.
What Self-Hosted Single Sign-On (SSO) do you use?
I have a lot of different services which I self host for me and my family like:...
