🙋 Do any friends who have a small shop have recommendations for a Portable Folding Work Table/Sawhorse?

From reading review websites, I see a few recommendations for this "Worx Pegasus 2-in-1 Folding Work Table & Sawhorse".

https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B01HREBZ3M

I have a workbench, but I need something I can use with my circular saw and compound miter saw to cut 2x4s and eventually do larger projects.

In theory, I will eventually need another sawhorse.

I could really do without mud season (number 4, I think) this week! We're supposed to be collecting the (foam glass product for sub-slab insulation) tomorrow but the roads are a mess. Need to do 4-5 round trips with our trailer and it's not going to be fun.

I'm looking for folks who have some expertise in . I'm writing a series on in the time of and looking at ways buildings can be safer as the weather gets weirder, and products or approaches that lower the overall carbon footprint of buildings who would be interested in an interview. It would be 15-20 minutes via phone or Zoom, one day this week. Can anyone here help?

Our solar kiln build is progressing nicely. We got most of the roof (except the ridge cap) installed at the weekend, and insulation in the south wall.

Already, even on a cloudy day in February in (peaked at 24,000 lx), we still saw a temperature differential of +14°F vs outside.

Just need a sunny day to see how it’ll really perform! Hoping to get more done this weekend.

View inside the solar kiln, showing insulation in the front (south) wall and clear polycarbonate roof.
Graph showing the temperature outside (peaking at ~33°F) vs inside the solar kiln (~47°F)

OK, so why is a building a surface level tram in Montreal more expensive in than building an underground metro in Europe?

@jfmezei @heliomass
Transportation projects are much more expensive in North America (and English-speaking countries) than elsewhere in the world. There's a blog dedicated to drawing lessons by comparing international #transportation projects: https://pedestrianobservations.com/

Last september, my #landlord decided to double my #rent, effectively kicking me out of my #home of 11 years. I fell into #depression. Luckily my parents own a plot of #land, and thus, with my dads help, i set off to build a #tinyhouse without rent. After 4 months and several tens of thousands of dollars of materials (which i raised by selling old #videogame collectables), i am ready to move in.

Some pics of #construction. I move in this weekend. Last night, I put the leveling compound on the floor and I'm all ready to put in my wood flooring.

If anyone is wondering how to clean up construction dust from drywalling in your house, here's what I have ..found so far.

  1. Wear an N95 mask. Drywall dust is very fine and not at all good for your lungs.

  2. Pick up any large debris. You might choose to sweep this up with a dust pan, but do be aware that sends a ton of drywall dust up into the air.

  3. Use a utility/shop vac with a HEPA filter to vacuum loose drywall dust off walls/floor/other surfaces

(repeat 3... many times... changing the filter if necessary)

  1. Wet mop floor (and maybe even wet wipe walls) to get the last bit of dust.

  2. Run a HEPA filter (or Corsi Rosenthal) after all that.

PNNL guide to building homes to be more resistant to wildfires.

"The guides in this section of the Disaster Resistance tool will focus less on structural fires caused from within, by cooking, heating or electrical malfunctions, and more on the threat that comes from outside, the threat of wildfire to homes located in the WUI. These guides focus on measures builders and home owners can take to increase the home’s chances of surviving even without suppression activities by firefighters..."
