Updating my summer-long project to clean up from April’s ice storm, the #cherry#tree seedlings that sprung up from the roots of a downed cherry tree seem to be doing well. We removed much of the stump a few weeks ago, filled in with fresh soil, and topped with grass seed. All seems good and healthy thanks to the lovely weather we have been very fortunate to have here. #gardening
"#Oregon’s #cherry harvest, one of the state’s biggest sources of agricultural income, is in dire straits because of #ClimateChange this year, and growers need emergency relief."
#GOP rep:
“Unfortunately, our cherry producers have been facing severe hardships due to unprecedented and adverse weather conditions in Oregon such as ice storms, excessive #heat, and #wildfire smoke impacts caused by a warming #climate.”
Alt: 4 col photos of sakura flowers on a sunny afternoon, various views up close or whole branches. Each flower is very double with somewhat dentate petals. Most interesting about this one is that it starts out white and the flower goes pink as it ages, making clusters of flowers of varying colour.
Alt: four col photos, views of the flowers from close-up to a cluster of branches against the pale blue sky. Each flower is fully double with bubblegum pink petals, each ruffled, to create a small pompom effect. The flowers are in clusters of about 20, and when the whole cluster blooms, it creates an effect of pink clouds.
