Kill the farm boy isn't the greatest piece of fantasy comedy I've ever read, but it's certainly good enough to keep me reading the rest of the Tales of Pell. 3/5 stars ☺️
Hello fellow #Vegans
An #introduction as I have just joined here (if you recognise my avatar, that's because I was previously on climatejustice.social)
I have been #vegan since #Veganuary 2019 and currently live aboard a #narrowboat touring England's canals. We are #carfree and mostly #offgrid. I love living out in #nature, foraging - especially for #tea leaves - and living a slow, as-calm-as-possible life.
My hobbies include #cooking and I share my #WFPB#VeganRecipe creations on my ko-fi page - the food is good, the photography not so great!
I am also a keen reader and post two vegan #BookReviews each week - one fiction and one nonfiction. (If you're a #VeganAuthor please feel welcome to tell me about your books.) You can see my most recently posted reviewed books in my header image.
If you like bloody revenge, a laconic, indefatigable hero, and miraculous, mystical happenings in the mythical Old West, then I think you'll share my opinion; "The Thousand Crimes of Ming Tsu" by Tom Lin kicks ass. [CW: sex, violence, drug use, racists]
Not a horror fan & up to my earlobes in TBR stuff right now, so likely won't read but goddamn I Iove this short take! TY!
(I swear if I read another blurb or review with the words "real page turner" "couldn't put it down" and/or "quirky characters" in it I may cough up something unpleasant.)
Once again, I am writing #bookreviews and am way over my allotted word count. I spend more time removing words than writing them! 😄 Still, it's excellent practice, and having word count specifications has taught me a lot about succinctness in writing, none of which I am displaying here. 😉

Five-year old Kyle Reeve is kidnapped in broad daylight, he is never found. Fifteen years later his father receives a note saying 'Your son is alive.'
Review on "When Stars are Scattered" by Victoria Jamieson, Omar Mohamed
Such an intense and moving book. No wonder it won many awards. Very real and practical. Finding it hard to write a review without giving away spoilers. If you have been living a life where you didn't have to worry if or not you will have another meal in the past 3-5 years then please read this book.
It's not often that I get a hankering for some pre-war, English upper-class wit and banter. But when I do Wodehouse fills that niche nicely. The Prince and Betty starts a bit slow, but picks up and earns itself 4/5 stars 😁
Time for my half year roundup & what a six months it’s been. I had 40 5⭐️ reads to choose from & whittling them down to my top 10 was really difficult. So here’s my top 15 🙄🤣

Books of 2023: "Bad Kids" by Zijin Chen ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
Killer children always creep me out, but this one was done so well that I don't mind. The sinister nature and the twist and turn that this psychological thriller takes readers on will have you guessing up till the very last page. Mystery fans will immensely enjoy this one and have a hard time but enjoy guessing what crazy and creepy things will happen next. @bookstodon
By the way, mastodon, Trip Galey's book 'A Market of Dreams and Destiny', is terrific! Have you ever read a book involving fairy bargains and goblin market and thought, 'yes, please, more of that please'? If so, this book is absolutely what you've been waiting for. Fairy bargains piled high and deep, plus labour unions, rhyming bells (lovely magical touch there) and a matchmaking talking cat.
Hello, friends! Remember blogs? I has one. I even occasionally write in it. Here are my thoughts on Emma Southon's new book, 'A History of the Roman Empire in 21 Women'.
Apparently Augustus's daughterJulia absolutely loved to get her some, and Tacitus and Suetonius are absolute pricks.
(Seriously, if you're sleepign on Emma Southon, you've got to fix that. Hers is the only voice I want telling me history anymore.)
You are by a river. You close your eyes and open it to "The Hundred Acre woods". All the chaos and madness are a distant fading memory now.
A book so warm that it brings you calm and puts a smile on your face every now and then.
"Winnie the #pooh" has always been a beautiful comfort read.
I just finished reading "How to loose friends and alienate people."
It wasn't my kind of book exactly and was a thrift store impulse buy. I think fomr the title I was hoping for more of an instruction manual than a memoir 😂
It had some slightly introspecitve, and perhaps even satirical moments. Those made it good enough to earn it a 3/5 stars.
WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE, bad things happen, even when some of the worlds are virtual. Breathtaking science fiction thriller plays on the edge of quantum entanglements between games and life. A MINUS
The plot begins as a curious war between boys and girls but truth be told even girl besties inevitably have this debate. Atleast me & my bestie did. Altho after some concrete incidents my best friend was crowned the fart queen. She was quiet pleased and proud.
Spoiler alert: girls do fart amazing scents of roses, strawberries, rainbows and sparkles. Lol! i wish i was kidding, but no, read the book. it is amazing. 🌹 @bookstodon#books#bookreviews
