I’ve used DT 770’s for YEARS now in my professional career, and it makes me nervous when a company says they’re going to update a classic piece of studio recording hardware. Using the new 770 Pro X for a couple weeks now, I have a LOT of thoughts.

In short, I need a couple of loudspeakers.
Context: since I have so many vinyls and CDs at home I decided to build a simple hi-fi system just for them (like if it was the 2000s 🙃)
I’ve found a second hand Denon avr1708 and a CD player, and I already had a ~10 years old record player. Now I just need a couple of loudspeakers but I literally have 0 idea how to choose one. I just read some infos about ohms and watts but that’s all. I’m also not much an audio expert so I don’t know which kind of “sound” should I be looking for in a speaker.
If you could suggest some specific speaker I would appreciate it, but since I’d prefer to find something second hand I’d rather like tips about what to look in a speaker, also some dos and donts when buying them second hand
What’s the bookshelf speaker equivalent of Sony MDR-7506s or Shure SE215s? JBL 4312s with roots back to 1968? Sony SS-SC5 from 2014? Jones’ 2016 Elac Debut or earlier 2012 Pioneer BS22? Klipsch R series?

old enough that most folks know of it

I'm really loving these 7Hz Timeless AE earbuds for music more than my V-Moda Zn earbuds. Don't get me wrong V-Moda is still amazing, but these are still better. But there is a noticeable difference in the overall sound quality, sound stage, and presence.
These are now my new go-to when listening to music. But I will say the V-Moda Zn were more comfortable for long term listening. I am going to try some silicone ear clips and foam ear tips to possibly remedy that. #Audiophile#Music
Got myself a little present since my V-Moda ZN earbuds I love are starting to fail and found out they are discontinued. So I’m on the search for a new brand for my #audiophile needs for hip hop and EDM music. My V-moda ZN still has a warranty until 2025 but after more than a decade with V-moda and seeing how they are changing it’s time for me to look at alternatives. Using something like the PuroQuiet Plus, I don't feel like I'm nagging my daughter to turn the sound down, and I know she's appreciating higher fidelity sound.
As a long-term sufferer from #audiophile nervosa, I sent my speaker cables back to Audioquest to get them split into two shorter pairs, one of which I'll sell to a compadre with similar affliction. In the meantime I made some temporary speaker cables out of Romex and ring lugs, with loops around the amp terminals for bi-wiring. They sound harsh.
OnePlus is bringing some price disrupting tech to their earbuds, and the Buds 3 might be a better fit for you than the more expensive Buds 2 Pro released last year!
Upgrading my new Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO from its supplied Sumiko Rainier to an Ortofon Blue (the Music Hall mmf-3.3 turntable failed after two days). 1) widening the clip leads with a round toothpick, Michael Fremer style 2) mating clip leads to cartridge pins with my trusty Nasotec tweezers 3) setting zenith angle with a Stevenson protractor. It sounds very good :) #audiophile
I found out V-Moda discontinued my all time favorite earbuds the Zn I’ve used for many years. I think since Roland bought them they’ve been slowly killing off the earbud line. So now I’m shopping for IEM’s for when these start to go as they’re a few years old and used daily with my iPod classic.
I’m looking at the 7Hz Timeless AE IEM’s as they don’t seem too expensive and the reviews say it has decent bass for my hip hop, dance, and club music. #music#audiophile#IEM#earbuds
Because it just came up, a thing I love for dampening outside noise, both literally and socially, is a big ol' set of over-the-head ear cans. While most people seem to be wandering around with ear buds now, nothing says "I can't hear you" like a good set of cans, and you can meanwhile infuse whatever you want into your headspace. #audiophile#music
