Does anyone else still use this ancient relic? Went back and notice that I've been scrobbling since 2012 and have racked up a whopping 144,489 scrobbles 😱
I recently got an iPod specifically to listen to music with no distractions, no internet, no notifications just headphones in and press play. Apparently this is rocket science for quite a few to understand that I want to be offline and disconnected completely with my device. I only want to have my phone for calls, if it vibrates I grab it. #music#audiophile#ipod#apple
Any audiophiles around here? I just bought a preamp: a Parasound Halo P 6, 2.1 output channels, line-level, digital and phono inputs. Here’s a short review. Even if you’re not an audio geek, I discuss the state of the art in audio DACs and think the findings are surprising.
So, #MQA gets a lifeline from Lenbrook, but with #TIDAL giving it the cold shoulder, it's like being the last kid picked for the team. Any takers? 🎵🏀🚶♂️
There are SO MANY more covers I love, but I kept it to five. This hashtag is really fun to scan through. So many great lists, and some tracks I'd NEVER heard of. Gonna be listening a good chunk of the night 😁
Okay, friends. I need recommendations. It's about time for me to think about getting a new phone, but there are some things I love about my current phone that are hard to leave behind. For instance, I'm a bit of an audiophile, and my LG G8 has a built-in quad DAC, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a native EQ app, and it supports both aptX and AAC codecs for bluetooth. Ideally, I'd like to find something around or under $500 (the cheaper, the better lol) with a comparable audio setup, but a more powerful chipset. Besides audio, I use my phone for normal phone stuff, lots of emulation/gaming, and making videos.
I'd really like a headphone jack and an easy bootloader unlock process for custom ROMs, but neither of those things are necessarily deal-breakers. High refresh rate displays are also very welcome but not necessary.
I'm in the US and these are the bands I need for service:
Taking us back to the mystical year of 2017, when our phones still had these magically useful features called "headphone jacks".
It's important to know a reviewer's specialty. Even reviewing something mass market, like phones or tablets, it's easy for an expert in one area to miss details in other areas.
Unfortunately, things like audio performance REGULARLY fell through the reviewer cracks.
Today, to replicate the performance of a phone like the LG V30 (new when this article was published), you'd have to spend roughly $150 on a dongle that flops around on your charge port. Reviewers overlooked a premium feature then, that we can't easily replace today.
I came to this country (U S.) in the 80s as a college student.
My cousin Tom in #Joliet IL had this beautiful home that I went to visit, and most importantly, had a #McIntosh amplifier.
Ever since 1982 I've wanted to own one of these bad boys. And finally today, ... achievement unlocked.
The first record I played through it was #Camel's Nude and I'm not embarrassed to announce to random strangers on the Internet that when "Drafted" came on, I teared up.
People say that the sound quality in Apple Music is way better than in Spotify. What is the technical explanation here?
It can't be a problem of the encoding pipeline. This problem has been solved decades ago. #spotify#applemusic#soundquality#audiophile#music#opus#aac#vorbis
There's gotta be an #audiophile contingent on this nerdsite. If you're an #audiogear sort of person, what's your favorite affordable, simple Bluetooth receiver that can plug into your primary receiver? Our bitty wee Logitech Audio Receiver died a death some time ago, and at the time was the bottom of the "budget but worth trying" market. I'd be willing to shell out closer to $100 now, but don't want to go too much higher. #SoundSystem#music#MusicGear

1978 Canada pressing
Can't seem to get enough of this album :) which, sadly has water damage/ mould on the sleeves and liners. Safely wrapped in new ones now but...
Question:
I've been using this vintage Discwasher brush since it was new.
I'm thinking it's not really 'state of the art' for record cleaning these days, so I'm looking for a modern solution that won't break the bank. Not interested in ultrasonic (currently). Maybe something like spinclean? Though the Ama$$on prices seem more than it should be worth.
I'm cool with mixing my own cleaning liquid, just looking for something that will let me clean the occasional flea market find to the point where they actually could sound good :)
Question:
I still buy and play #CompactDiscs in year 2023, and obviously I look for another #CD player, maybe from the 80's or 90's. But I wonder now: are they still compatible for the latest CD editions with more than 70mins? or should buy a newer device? #Audiophile#Analogue
I'm heartbroken. My new Music Hall mmf-3.3 turntable failed after two days (power issue)... but I'm getting a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO instead (with the wood grain finish). I think it was the universe telling me "no, you do not want avant-garde, go with something safe and predictable." The situation was extremely well handled by B&H Photo, and the new turntable should arrive tomorrow. #audiophile
Facing a huge rise of hearing loss in young adults and teens, it's up to us grownups to not only teach kids better listening habits, but also give them better audio tools. https://somegadgetguy.com/2024/02/16/puroquiet-plus-review-anc-headphones-for-kids/
Using something like the PuroQuiet Plus, I don't feel like I'm nagging my daughter to turn the sound down, and I know she's appreciating higher fidelity sound.
