For anyone missing browsing Reddit on #Apollo, I strongly encourage trying out #Lemmy with https://wefwef.app added to your phone’s homescreen. The UI is nearly identical to Apollo’s, and at times I forget I’m browsing a web client instead of an installed app. Definitely made my transition to using the #Threadiverse easier!
Goodbye old friend, one of my most used apps #Apollo goes to the big App Store in the sky. However, on a happier note the #fediverse future looks bright with #lemmy and #kbin growing rapidly. I hope they will inspire apps of the same quality as Apollo.
Reminder that you can still pick up an amazing pack of 20+ Apollo wallpapers by many of Apollo's icon designers to remember Apollo by and support Apollo/me in the process! ❤️ https://christianselig.gumroad.com/l/goodbye-wallpapers
@christianselig donation sent. Thank you so much for everything you did. I used #apollo more than any iOS app. It’s so stupid that the #redditMigration#enshittification happened, but Reddit was getting worse and worse. It was time to move on. We will find better communities in the #Fediverse and beyond!
Some great #SETI talks at the #breakthroughinstitute Breakthrough Discuss 2023. Mind-blowing to hear of a mission proposal to survey the whole #lunar surface to sub-metre precision to look for evidence of #technosignatures (alien artefacts). Onboard #MachineLearning would be used to work out what bits of the surface are "out of the ordinary". Tests using existing lower resolution data are already able to successfully identify the #Apollo lunar landing sites, without any prior training. Amazing!
How beautiful. 💕 A lovely send-off song for #Apollo users. @christianselig is all class. As many #Reddit users have said these past few weeks, fuck u/Spez. Mourning the loss of such a great app and the direction of Reddit. Long live the #threadiverse 💜
It’s a web app but it still manages to be an almost 90% clone of Apollo and actually makes Lemmy usable. The communities on Lemmy still need some growth but this is the first time I’ve felt it was viable.
Well, I was not expecting an app to make me cry this morning, but that song got me good.
Thank YOU, @christianselig - not for making me cry, but for everything you’ve put into developing Apollo for those 9 years, and also for your transparency through this whole shitshow. I hope you go on to bigger and brighter things.
