Hi all,

I don't know if I've missed @ mentions. I'll get to them when I can, if I have. My depression's kicking me hard today and I just feel completely inferior to everyone else, not good enough, or on-the-ball enough, or relevant enough or whatever.

I don't normally post-winge about this kinda crap. But it's where I'm at so I'm being real. Yay.

Three things I love on Mastodon & one I dislike:

1 I love #. I can curate wonderfully by filtering and searching. (Use #, people!)
2 Editing is a must-have when you don’t wear your glasses as you should and/or are dys-.
3 Unlisted posts are fantastic to avoid inflicting on everyone a long non-sense convo with a mutual.

But I dislike that I can’t edit a post to unlist it. Seriously, where’s that function? I always forget to unlist despite loving it!

Hello everyone! I thought I'd write an #introduction here. Well, I'm Daniel, a South American guy living in Northern Europe, and I work in the Tech Industry.

Some of my interests include tech, literature, philosophy, indoor climbing, and pen and paper RPGs (mainly as a storyteller). I also try to go to the gym most days of the week. :)

I'm also a proponent of #mentalhealth awareness. Currently, I'm working on overcoming my own anxiety and trying to publish a personal blog about it.

@FibroJedi I have mixed feelings about this (the event, not your write-up!) I was so looking forward to the crafting refresh, and I like the idea of crafting events, but… I really dislike races and timed events in games. The horse races are among my least favourite parts of LOTRO festivals (because I’m terrible at them) so I always try to find other ways to do the ‘daily 10 quests’. This seems like it’ll be similar to the horse races, only without any alternatives… 😕

@FibroJedi I’ve watched Orion’s stream about this now, and between that and your guide I’m a bit more enthusiastic than I was. It probably helps that I’m not too fussed about the cosmetic stuff for this, just the crafting buffs. I’m still not thrilled about the whole racecourse part of it, but eh, I’ll see how it goes when it’s live. 🤷🏻‍♀️

i'm thinking about instance migration again. strongly considering hachyderm.io, they seem to be a super welcoming and active community! seems like they are very transparent with how they run things, too.

seems like the migration itself isn't hard, but my understanding is that my posts/toots won't follow me. no huge loss, i'm not that prolific of a tooter, and i guess i can always re-publish pics of my cat.

has anyone moved their account to a new instance and regretted it? any hugely positive or negative outcomes? i'd love to hear how it went for you!

@mishamouse I migrated from my initial (always intended to be temporary) instance to a new one with no issues - this was fairly early on, & I had little in the way of posts/replies to leave behind. Follows all migrated fine. My instance is small, quiet & nerdy (just what I wanted), so was a positive outcome for me.

You can always migrate again if the new instance isn’t a good fit, so if you’re okay with posts etc. being left behind, I’d say go for it.

Purple is NOT my hunter’s colour (she mostly goes for earthy or autumnal tones)… but I might have to make an exception…

On a whim, I watched the animated film "Nimona", on Netflix. Enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm sure that unsavory types would consider it "too woke", and the themes can be a bit ham-fisted, but it's a solid watch with good moral lessons. Also, the contrasting animation styles of the two primary characters was interesting. The titular character moves with much more fluidity and frequently looks cell animated at times in the midst of the world's CG presentation.
