For those of you who have been #gnulinux users for a long time, you might remember #DamnSmallLinux . The last official release of DSL was 18 years ago.
There's an attempt to revive the project with #DamnSmallLinux2024. Right now, it's in the "alpha" stage of development and is largely based on the 32 bit version of #antix. It's not as small as it used to be, but the ISO image will fit on a CD disk.
What does one do with a 32bit computer from 2005 with 2gigs of ram and a 30gb hard drive? Tried running 32bit batocera on it for retro gaming and it wouldn’t even boot. It’s got a nice big screen. Antix Linux runs fine though. #batocera#linux#antix

I'm using #MXLinux on #LiveUSB and tried to rollback it to previous remaster. However, I had updated the kernel to newer version before.
In effect, the OS "didn't finish up booting", or, rather threw (as I saw after Alt-F1) an (uncritical) error about new kernel unavailable and booted up to CLI. To recover from this, I used the same live-kernel-updater, but rolled back the kernel version instead of updating. This recovered the system.
This should be helpful also for #Antix users as both distros share their LiveUSB utilities.
TIL that NVidia dropped support for a bunch of Legacy GPUs in their #Linux Drivers, resulting in the need to use "Legacy GPU Drivers"
Said "Legacy GPU Drivers" seem to no longer be supported on newer #Debian based distros as (random forum thread) suggests they're chock full of security issues / bugs and a PITA to support
And this is why (I think) I'm stuck at 640x480 in #antiX on an old, but not THAT old Compaq Presario Athlon 64 system :/
Dug out my "worse piece of tech", the HP Mini 210-1100 netbook (1GB ddr3, Intel Atom, 1.66 GHz, 250GB HDD). It was a gift–I remember using it and the dreaded lag/frustration with Windows 7 Starter kinda drove me insane. Haven't used it since 2010. Until today that is!
