Question: what was your favorite song when you were 12?
Why? There was a WSJ article about men reading romance novels, a separate piece that engaged in Gen X erasure, and a conversation at dinner. The conversation caused me to declare that there was a non-zero chance that a friend’s favorite song when he was 12 was “Arthur’s Theme” by Christopher Cross. (Mine’s “Sweet Freedom” by Michael McDonald. It makes me smile and think of summer.) #Music#GenX#Aging
The other day my partner helped an elderly man onto a tram. (Just about picked him up!), & when we all got off at the same stop, we crossed the road with him, very slowly. Later on, on another tram, we had a very entertaining conversation with a very strange, older, possibly homeless man. Engaging with people when out & about, rather than burying ourselves in our phones or isolating ourselves in cars can be very rewarding. One day we too might need assistance & company. #Aging#Disability#MentalHealth
Study finds people living in pre-industrialized setting age better -- their brains age more slowly, and almost no #cardiovascular disease or #diabetes.
Spent the better part of the day with my parents taking them to a medical appointment and then a very late lunch afterward.
I set up my mum with our last remaining Apple Music family member spot, hoping she gets some joy out of listening to more music. Her first playlist she added was of Organ music 😎 and then she dutifully listened to my EP. Moms... :gaming_heart:

🗣️There is a need for a more holistic approach, which can be achieved only through a concerted effort between the fitness industry and health care providers.
Scientists have achieved a significant breakthrough in the effort to slow the aging process with a novel technique that increased the lifespans of yeast cells by a whopping 82 percent, reports a new study
Very happy to announce that my lab "Physiology of Light perception" will open in January at the Dept of Ophthalmology of the Inselspital (@inselgruppe) in Bern, Switzerland 🇨🇭! 1/5 www.murelab.org
We will study the cells and circuits by which light impacts physiology, behavior, and cognitive performances and how the disruption the light signal because of #aging, #neurodegeneration, or modern lifestyle affects behavior and #mentalhealth. 2/5
