No, #WashingtonPost, the Supreme Court did not say that #Alabama had to draw another district "favorable" to Black residents, as your headline wrongly claims. The word "favorable" doesn't occur a single time in the decision.
The word they used many times was "proportional", and the idea behind that word is that the districts need to be equitable to Black residents. EQUITABLE, not "favorable."
Shame on #WaPo for this bad headline.

>Over 20 members of the former president's security detail have reportedly testified as part of the probe into Trump's handling of classified documents.
"Secret Service agents are always with Trump. And they are also highly trained as observers and witnesses," Vance wrote.
"Agents work criminal cases and testify before grand juries and trial juries. It's their job. In other words, these folks are trained witnesses. As a prosecutor, you couldn't ask for much better."
In the New Republic, coverage of the far-right terror campaign against Target and Pride in general, and the mainstream media's willingness to use euphamisms like "backlash" to obscure what's really happening.
>Former President Donald Trump lashed out at former White House lawyer Ty Cobb in a rant on his Truth Social platform on Monday evening, appearing to threaten legal action against him."Ty Cobb is a disgruntled former Lawyer, who represented me long ago, and knows absolutely nothing....
>The former president has angrily complained in response to predictions that if the Justice Department is going to charge him, then “what about Joe Biden?”
"Former #Google#CEO says AI poses an 'existential risk' that puts [many, many, many] lives in danger #EricSchmidt wants to prevent potential abuse of #AI.
Ever since he participated in a "National Security Commission on AI that reviewed the technology and published a 2021 report determining that the US wasn't ready for the tech's impact..." he has been speaking out critically against #AI.
Right-wing activists have been working in recent years to remove what they say are objectionable #books from local #libraries -- but it turns out that a tiny number of them are responsible for most of the #BookBan requests.
Analysis conducted by the #WashingtonPost found that only 11 people were responsible for more than half of more than 1,000 different book challenges analyzed by the paper, with one power banner responsible for 92 challenges just by himself.
@pbump What has been especially alarming is the success of the very rich RWNJ's to get the mainstream media like CNN to redefine journalistic terms like "objective" and "unbiased" as the RWNJ point-of-view. The best individual cure for this, IMHO, is to turn your TV off and stop subscribing to print and electronic media owned by Murdoch, Sinclair Broadcasting, Musk, AT&T, and other RWNJs. #washingtonpost
I'm tickled every time someone posts an article from The Washington Post because I'm not going to give away my details to their site for even more spam, market research, etc, etc. I'm not paying them either. So many subscriptions in this life.
Call me a conspiratorialist if you must. But when CEOs get on earnings calls and brag about how covid, war, and scare-stories about #inflation let them hike their prices and rake in never-before-seen profit margins, I think it's reasonable to blame inflation on greed, not on workers getting a couple of relief checks during the lockdown.
And Bezos's columnists and editorial board at the #WashingtonPost told the same story, calling greedflation "foolishness" and a "bizarre theory" and demanding that the Fed hike interest rates, drive Americans out of work, and "curtail their spending power" to fight inflation:
I'm deleting my #WashingtonPost app. My prepaid subscription was cancelled months ago--but I've still had access to the paper because of it. Today with the Post comparing Thomas' situation favorably to Abe Fortas, who resigned the second it was clear his friend was corrupt WITHOUT ACCEPTING ANY GIFTS, is the last straw. #Thomas was compromised when he cast the deciding vote in #Shelby and Citizens United, giving men like Crow unlimited power in government. Paying #Crow back isn't a solution.
