Strange place to go, but the #iOS magnifier app is quite interesting if you're a #VoiceOver user. If you haven't ever had a play, you might be intrigued and pleasantly surprised if you do...
It's a bummer that once again I'm having to create an accessibilityRepresentation for a standard UI element. If you have a SwiftUI Picker with a style of segmented then VoiceOver won't read the hint or value. I just realized I opened FB12677180 about this in July.
I feel like I spend so much time figuring out why VoiceOver isn't acting as I expect and then having to figure out ways around it.
Anyone else experiencing a scenario where placing an order after pressing the Buy Now button is no longer accessible on the #Amazon#iOS app using #VoiceOver? There's just an element that says "Swipe to Place Order." Double tapping that element does nothing. #accessibility#fail
Hey @FreakyFwoof or anyone else who might know: did the VMware issues with #voiceover ever get fixed? I really want to start getting more use out of my 1 year old Mac instead of upgrading my 4 year old windows laptop.
🌟 Thrilled to share my involvement in the Emmy-awarded "@Apple - The Greatest - Accessibility" commercial! As a blind musician, it was an honor not only to demo the innovative Door Detection feature but also to play piano and keyboards in the video. I even had a hand in the pre-production of the song. A big shoutout to @Somesuchandco and @Apple for embracing accessibility and inclusivity. This recognition at the #Emmys#75thEmmys celebrates the power of accessible technology and the arts combined! 🏆🎹👏
The developer of MacTracker has responded to my request that he make the Mac version of his app accessible via VoiceOver. He asked me for names of folks who would be willing to test and provide constructive feedback. I’ve got some usual suspects I can ask but I thought I’d throw it out there to the community.
DM me to send me your email address if you’re interested.
#mastodon#a11y it is not nice to tell me that a password is too long without telling me what the maximum is. I'm struggling here (trying to sign up a friend over the phone -- I'm blind to his screen, he's just blind, so I'm listening to #JAWS over the phone, and listening to #VoiceOver locally).
Thanks @mikedoise again for your help! Have a quick 2.5 minute introduction to connecting to voice on Mac with #Discord using #Voiceover... speach is a little fast, 60%, however i hope my explaining what voiceover is saying helps! If you like this type of content, LMK... fun stuff coming re these random recordings i'm doing soon! #Unmute
I would like to hear from people using screen readers. Do you prefer the hashtags to be intermingled in the body of the message, or separately at the end?
For those who code on the Mac, what’s your favorite editor that works with #VoiceOver? I’m seeking something that will allow me to read and edit python code.
I've spent so long today trying to get VoiceOver support working for the new widget I have that has a bar chart in it. It's the same chart that VoiceOver detects in my app but ignores in my widget.
I even experimented with putting another chart in an accessibilityRepresentation in the title that is read, but anything I put in there is getting ignored also.
Bit of advice for anyone using #VO on IOS.
Lately it has been reading my notifications on the lock screen as they come through and I have no recollection of telling it to do this.
I get a news update or something and it is automatically read out.
I could set the notifications to do nothing on the lock screen but I do want the sounds to let me know that I do have something that I might want to look at. #Accessibility#iOS#VoiceOver
Today I learned that if you're a #Voiceover user, you can perform a 5 finger double tap to activate Braille Screen Input. If you didn't know, now you do.
So it really is a shame that #VoiceOver on the #Mac won't work with #Tkinter apps written in #Python. It is an easy way to write GUI applications in Python.
I'm struggling with VoiceOver support for a new feature I want to add.
Inside my ScrollView I added a button to scroll to another part. After I push the button VO acts like nothing happened. It reads the next item that is after the button. Swiping rights reads the next item after that. It's not reading the content of where I scrolled down to.
I've tried using @\AccessibilityFocusState to make where I jumped the focus but no luck.
