Do #SSD failures follow the bathtub curve? Ask #Backblaze
SSD Edition: 2023 Drive Stats Mid-Year Review: While the actual curve produced by the SSD failures over each quarter is a bit “lumpy”, the trend line (second order polynomial) does have a definite bathtub curve look to it.
But Lifetime AFR: The lifetime data is cumulative from Q4 2018 through Q2 2023. For this period, lifetime AFR for all of our SSDs was just 0.90%, but removing a few bad models drops it to 0.72% https://www.backblaze.com/blog/ssd-edition-2023-mid-year-drive-stats-review/

Der NUC machte das Superkompaktformat massentauglich, jetzt lässt Intel die Minirechner auslaufen. Einer der letzten Vertreter ist der NUC 13 Pro Desk Edition.
It's little, but it packs a ton of storage! If you're in the same boat I am (replacing some of those OTHER 1TB drives), then a little pocket drive like this might be right up your alley. Especially when this drive sells at a really attractive price!
Damn. Thought I'd install a new #SSD into my new #laptop, but I don't have a spudger to remove the case cover. Do any stores in #ottawa sell them, even if in a small repair kit?
It's purposefully designed to make #repair economically unviable!
This shit should be made illegal by @EU_Commission because not even ATEX-certified radios and diving computers have that level of designed-in #unrepairability, and they even have fecking valid reasons to not be easy to be opened.
@Hawkwinter@EU_Commission
Something that IMHO should at most take 15 mins by an apprentice or trainee, nor 8hrs for two certified professionals to pull off...
Imagine if #Tires and #Oil could not be changed - because that's the equivalent of soldering down #SSD|s.
Anyone know if an external spinny hard drive, formatted to NTFS, will work well enough with a hacked Wii?
I've been having crashes running Wii games from the SD card and I wonder if having to split the Wii image files is the problem. My SD card only allows file sizes to be a maximum of 4 (four) gigabytes.
Pondering whether this 5.25" floppy controller could be fixed, seems to be related to power input, some resistors and a transistor from what I can see 🤔
Ich wollte den Flugsimulator 2020 per SSD auf einen zweiten Rechner übertragen. Jedoch bekomme ich die Fehlermeldung, dass auf der SSD nicht genug Platz wäre.

Just upgraded the #SSD in my 2012 #MacBookAir from 128GB to 512GB.
Now embarking on the magical mystery tour that will be transitioning from #MacOS#MountainLion to #Monterey.
I may be some time…
Ich verwende in meinem Desktop-PC ein Mainboard mit B560-Chipsatz. Nun wollte ich eine SSD nachrüsten, sie funktioniert jedoch nur im zweiten Steckplatz.
Anybody got a good way to test an old Apple / Samsung MZ-KPW1280 blade SSD? It's my understanding these things are proprietary as hell so I'm not wanting just to plug it into my PC.
I know it's not DOA but based on the HDD I took out that was paired with it I'm comfortable it has a bit less than five years of runtime.
(Combined, they were an Apple Hybrid drive with known issues. I've been suspecting the SSD. The HDD tested separately appears to be working fine despite multiple SMART in prefailure mode and the same long runtime and being a former Seagate Baracuda 3TB design with a severe failure rate within three years until being rebadged for desktop use.)
Ok, I need your help.
While moving a folder on one of my nvmes, I suddenly get a Input/Output error. I already checked SMART - the SSD is totally fine. Of course I have no current backup of this exact folder 🙄 .
FS is NTFS (Yeah Ik it is shit) and I already tried ntfsfix...
Any ideas?
Sadly optical media standards don't grow with the need for more storage and whilst #TapeDrive|s do, modern versions of #LTO#Ultrium are absurdly expensive so unless one needs to backup Petabytes offline it doesn't make financial sense...
Personally I prefer the form factor of 3,5" #FDD|s but their abysmal capacity makes them rather useless these days.
