I came across this #Reddit family drama from one of those narration YouTube videos and reading all of the original posts spanning several months was pretty bonkers! I don’t care if the story was an exercise in creative fiction or actually real because I was totally entertained. 😅
@seav many years back, when blogs were a thing, there was one called IIRC 'the blog of a fat woman'. Her was a middle-low class family, composed of her, his husband, one young adult child and two adolescent children. The YA knew about computers and set her up a blog, an she wrote about her and her family. The blog started to become known, and got quite a following. She interacted with the commenters a lot (when comments where still mostly civil).
Maybe lemmy + AP will develop into something as good as the Usenet but so far I don't see it yet.
I'll re-evaluate in a couple of years when the core of lemmy seemed to be stable and a number of alternative clients with at least half of the advanced Usenet-client features I was using decades ago are available.
So far, lemmy just seems to copy reddit with most of its conceptual downsides except federation.
@ademir_lemmy_br@pedro If lemmy (or some other community) would provide a AP-to-NNTP gateway, I would reconsider because then I'd be able to use the advanced client features I'm looking for.
Don't see that coming either. 🤷
With more and more platforms failing, I get picky where I contribute to. I'd rather not than use something I'm not convinced of. Focusing on my blog (Atom/RSS) + Mastodon + book writing + giving PIM lectures in RL seems to be my path as it seems.
OpenAI Strikes Reddit Deal To Train Its #AI On Your Posts
Reddit gets access to OpenAI’s tech for building AI features, and OpenAI gets real-time access to Reddit posts that feed into ChatGPT. #OpenAI has also signed up to become an advertising partner on #Reddit.
It’s an agreement similar to the one Reddit signed with #Google earlier this year that was reportedly worth $60 million.
»OpenAI darf Reddit-Daten nutzen:
Le regole erano sempre state chiare? E allora inutile lamentarsene ora #ownyourdata#ownyourweb https://www.ilpost.it/2024/05/17/reddit-accordo-openai/
@GualTRex
