“#Students at UChicago encampment gather in silence around a speaker for radio broadcast of WKCR 89.9, #Columbia’s student station. Student #press are producing incredible coverage as swarms of #NYPD riot cops pepper spray, beat and arrest their classmates for protesting #genocide”

“We called on NYPD to clear an encampment once, but we all share the view, based on discussions within our community and with outside experts, that to bring back the NYPD at this time would be counterproductive, further inflaming what is happening on campus”
This photo perfectly captures the #NYPD -harassing a delivery guy while totally ignoring a sidewalk full of illegally parked cars. (The red sign above her head says “no parking”) Punching down is part of their culture. #nyc
lol workers from Transit Worker's Union Local 100 refused to bus protestors from a Seder in the streets of New York to the precinct, so the pigs had to do it themselves. Power to the workers!
“‘the #NYPD were called in under false pretenses by the president of the university,’ says Joseph Slaughter, professor at #Columbia University. ‘The university is being run as a sort of ad-hocracy at this point, the senior administration making up policies and procedures and prohibitions on the fly, changing them in the middle of the night.’” #protest#humanrights#police#FreePalestine
New York City police have arrested more than 100 people protesting Israel’s war in Gaza on the campus of Columbia University. A student group called Columbia University Apartheid Divest set up an encampment on Wednesday to protest the school’s “continued financial investment in corporations that profit from Israeli apartheid.” University President Minouche Shafik warned demonstrators that they were not allowed to set up tents and occupy the grounds before police started forcibly removing them. USA Today has more on the ongoing protest.
