Any tips for free #translation service for #Mastodon? We're testing #Libretranslate (v1.3.9) on https://mstdn.dk the results are sometimes a little incomprehensible. Example: "Sådan et badge ønsker jeg mig!" ("I Want a badge like this!") translated to "How a badge do I want me!", which I'm sure will puzzle a few English readers. Thoughts? Free is key.
I have just noticed that Sengi has LibreTranslate built in to translate text from different languages to the one is selected as the default language in the settings 😎. Kudos 👍 for using an a FLOSS solution for translating instead of the more mainstream google translate. 😄
A few days ago I downloaded 🔣 #LibreTranslate and tried it out locally. After a long startup time to download tons of models, the webserver ran and I was able to auto-translate very long texts. It worked like a charm! :blobfoxhappy:
The quality is pretty good, too; it doesn't need too many corrections.
