Despite yesterday's chaos I still managed to get to the butcher. There's a local butcher that's literally across the street from my new co-op grocery store.
They had some yummy chorizo that I'mma use in gumbo later this week. And I grabbed a packet of breakfast sausage patties (because I need to stop swinging by starbies to get a sammich b4 work).
Tried one this morning. HOLY SHIT that's so good. And the price is like, the same as the Johnsonville ones. So, yay?
Another day, another oven dish. I had pierogies in the fridge and decided I wanted them done in the oven with leftover frozen harissa seasoned tomato sauce, broccoli stem leftovers, cauliflower florets, soy cream and plenty of grated hard cheese. It was so filling that we couldn’t even eat all of it in one sitting but it was yum.
Japanese Coffee Jelly is a simple dessert made with strongly brewed black coffee, sugar and cream. It's easy to make and makes a refreshing treat in the summer, or whenever you need a pick-me-up!
I wondered through the aisles clutching my shopping list like a talisman against the near-overwhelming desire to buy more than I could possibly carry home. I probably looked confused, and I was a little confused, but more than anything I was overwhelmed with joy.
I randomly wandered into a dumpling shop I’ve never heard of next to SFSU and, well I think I’ve found my favorite xiaolongbao in the city. It’s better than all the more famous ones!!
It’s called Mom Dumpling in park Merced. They make their own dumpling dough AND noodles. The crab and pork xlb is especially good, almost as good as the good ones I’ve had in Taiwan and Shanghai

This one came out iffy but it's mostly my fault. I didn't want this one (missed the chance to pick)
Should have trimmed the green beans better, I added potato water back and shouldn't have, but it tastes good so who cares. I already put some of the potatoes in a tub so it looks unbalanced
It's been about 6 months and a couple of pronouns since the last "decent home meal" post!

Bread was burnt, who cares, delicious. My toaster oven seems 50-100 degrees hot.
Should have cooked before doing the nails, smudged one of the thumbs but oh well, learning. Also first time doing REAL cooking with the kittens harassing me
