American being the racist country as usual!

Three Black men sued American Airlines for discrimination discrimination when they and five other Black men were kicked off a flight in January over a complaint of "offensive body odor."

Completed my long student this morning, which means I have officially met the qualifications for my private pilot's license! Just have to prep for the final oral/practical tests!

Also got some great pictures while I was in some smooth traffic-free air over central Florida. This state is really gorgeous at 3500 feet.

Several small lakes surrounded by agricultural fields and dotted above by small clouds.
Small clouds over a dense forest with a small neighborhood cut out of it.
Sunshafts through an uneven and beautifully backlit upper cloud layer, over a green land dotted with shining lakes as a single road cuts its way towards the horizon.

Just did my first cross country (120nm) at night in ! KORL to KOCF back to KORL.

Most important lesson I learned? Don't at night under visual flight rules. I should wait until I get my instrument rating if I want to fly at night.

WiredForFlight,
@WiredForFlight@mytransponder.com avatar

@LouisIngenthron could also bring a CFI with you or safety pilot who has lots of night experience to help build your experience.

LouisIngenthron,
@LouisIngenthron@qoto.org avatar

@WiredForFlight That would certainly work for any round trips, but I might have trouble convincing my CFI to stay at my mom's house for a weekend, lol.

Large adult landing in a marshy pond. It doesn't seem to care that there's plenty of pointy obstacles in the way..., but it landed with ease.

related: I‘m just glad that most planes of most European airlines are Airbus and not Boeing. Because I don’t own a parachute.

bekopharm,
@bekopharm@social.tchncs.de avatar

@jynersolives I hear parachutes for everyone are a logistical nightmare anyway due to the resulting search area if ever everyone on board would deploy one oO

jynersolives,
@jynersolives@mastodon.social avatar

@bekopharm Yeah I guess it’s more efficient if everyone dies roughly in the same spot.

Been getting brief visits by a couple crows and I managed one photo through a window. Love the curling wingtips and watching them ride invisible air currents.

#Boeing plane nosedives and sends #passengers flying >>>

This passenger recounts how he'd fallen asleep on the plane, only to be awoken by a sharp jolt as the plane lost about 500' altitude and passengers were thrown to the ceiling. The #pilot told him that he lost control of the plane and his #flight instruments went blank during the incident 😳

I don't see how Boeing recovers from this series of Very Bad Events.
