Halving car traffic in the city by 2035 was rejected 52% to 48%, as the remote parts of the ciry voted like 60/40 against it (city center was the opposite more or less)
European Parliament #euelections2024 shows clear victory for Green (and Volt, combined), as you'd expect.
Woke up to good news: there was no far right gain in Sverige’s EU representation!
With 94% counted, the right parties will have lost support since the last EU election.
I am disappointed 2 anti-immigration, anti-EU left/ish parties in Sverige gained support, but at least the only one gaining a seat (V) opposes chat control. I’m happy about Sverige’s Green (Mp) seat gain, as my third most aligned EU party.
#EUelections2024 people have shown with their voting again and again they don't care about climate AT ALL, voting for right-wingers that will make everything exponentially worse
🇪🇺 Today, if you are EU citizen, please go out to vote. Vote for yourself, vote for the community, and please go out and vote for us "Europeans" disenfranchised by Brexit 🙏
If you‘re still uncertain whether you go voting tomorrow or not, stream the first 30 minutes of „Saving Private Ryan“. #europawahl#euelections2024#euelections
Very important for Swedes to vote in the EU Election. Privacy is a fundamental human right, even when there are bad people doing bad things. Mass surveillance by the government does more harm than good.
The GOP wants the Christian version of violent ethnonationalist state in the US. European far-right parties want something similar. They go after Muslims, immigrants, women's rights, LGBTQ rights, etc. If the far-right strengthens in Europe and #Trump gets elected in the US, say goodbye to the postwar liberal order. #fascism
Why this guy in particular ? He was one of the people behind the Verkeerscirculatieplan which came into force in Groningen in 1977 and which removed most cars from the city centre. It's possible that without that action happening and helping to set off a series of similar events in other cities we might never have decided to come and live in the Netherlands. That's worth honoring, IMO.
Later he did many other good things such as working for Oxfam/Novib.
That's my reason to vote for a 78 year old white guy who I know won't represent us this time around. I hope that he sees that people appreciate what he did for us all. My vote, like others for people lower in the list, are reallocated and help to send younger people higher in the list for the same party to Brussels.
