We recently launched JSR, a new open source package registry for all of JavaScript (and TypeScript!)

In this post, Luca Casonato dives into how we built JSR to be:
🏅 reliable (100% SLO)
😀 simple to use for publishers and consumers
📦 compatible with NPM

Creating new projects in #Deno Deploy is now easier:
⭐️Automatic framework detection
⭐️Optional build step support
⭐️Transparent build and deploy step
⭐️Seamless CI/CD setup via GitHub Actions

What am I doing this weekend? Learning , , and @hongminhee's all at the same time, for a project which I'm hoping will be used by many people.

What could possibly go wrong? 💪

Hey Adam,

Just touching base here, I wanted to see how is coming along and... Oh, it's been a while since the last commit.

Anyway, had some discussions with a couple of folks about it and how it's , so there's excitement there.

Do please lemme know when you've taken up that torch again - I know you wear a lot of hats :)

All the best!

Announcement post for 1.42 talks about Deno 2 as "long anticipated, many times delayed". No kidding!

Still I really appreciate the "DENO_FUTURE=1" env var that removes the deprecated APIs so you can test your code ahead of even a preview release. Nice touch @deno_land .

I just did some prep work for V2 in so I'll def give that a shot. I wonder if they also remove deprecated Typescript types? 🤔

Still in early development. Also using Deno’s new JSR packaging format.

I've written a #fediverse server framework that implements #ActivityPub in #Deno. There are still many features to document and add, but the basic behavior such as creating and following actors and sending and receiving activities works well. It's also been tested with Mastodon and Misskey. There's also a federated single-user blog in the repository as an example project. If you're interested in building a fediverse server app, take a look at the project! Thanks!

State of JS Runtime

I suggest we have a new survey similar to state of JS called state of JS runtime, to get an idea of which runtimes are most popular in the industry & what are they being used for. (its merely a question in StateOfJS)

🙋🏽‍♀️
Which runtime do you use & for what purpose?

sirber,
@sirber@fosstodon.org avatar

@nosherwan node hasn't fully embraced ES6 modules that came out almost ten years ago, let alone typescript. Bun is fast, yes, they support typescript, but that's about it. also has built-in, and adds extra security, a new package system, and lots of new features. I can even compile a binary.
