My favourite game for my favourite system. A game that changed my life. The first SMT game I ever played, which led me to playing Persona (and emptied my bank account)
This game is a masterpiece of game design and storytelling, with branching paths and multiple endings, and choices that actually matter. Plus stellar character design by Suzuhito Yasuda
On #SegaSunday / #CIBSunday here’s “Shenmue: Ichishou Yokosuka”. Yu Suzuki’s masterpiece for #Sega#Dreamcast was the most expensive video game ever produced when it released in 1999. Pictured is the Japanese limited edition. #Retrogaming
On #SegaSunday / #CIBSunday here’s “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”. This is a 1994 platform game sequel which retains many of the classic elements of the previous games with a few minor improvements, and introduces the character of Knuckles the Echidna. #Retrogaming#MegaDrive#Genesis
On #SegaSunday / #CIBSunday here’s “Sonic & Knuckles”. This is a 1994 sequel to Sonic 3 developed by Sonic Team. This game features unique “Lock On Technology” which allows Knuckles to appear as a playable character in previous Sonic games. #Retrogaming#Sega#MegaDrive#Genesis
#CIBSunday we’ve got Shadow Hearts: From the New World for the #PS2
FtNW was the third entry in the Shadow Hearts series, and the first game I bought over the internet. FtNW is an odd game- it has the classic hard-as-nails timed-hit combat the series is known for, but goes crazy town with character and story, the main drawback of which is some problematic depictions of First Nations people. Still, I have a large soft spot for this odd game with its unhinged cast of characters.
@boke
Thanks so much for sharing this. 😊 It's really interesting to read about games I don't know about yet.
I really appreciate it 😁
Looking forward to your #CIBSunday next week 😉
Gradius Collection on PSP
For #CIBSunday Minds fren @roboqu4ck mentioned Gradius III as a fun summer SHUMP. Though I didn’t get into the series till later, I can see the appeal in this release. Played it till the UMD cover needing replacing 😬 #gamer#gaming#videogames#retrogaming#mastodongaming
For #CIBSunday we continue my summer gaming journey. This was pinnacle arcade gaming here. Some at restaurants, others in actual arcades, this collection shared a moment in time when the home arcade experience was a ways off. #gamer#gaming#videogames#retrogaming#vidyagames
On #SegaSunday / #CIBSunday here’s “Darius II”. This is a 1990 port of #Taito’s 1989 arcade shoot-em-up sequel, although there are some significant differences from the original. This is known as “Sagaia” outside of Japan. #Retrogaming#Sega#MegaDrive#Genesis
Another #CIBSunday item from my collection is #FlightSimulator by #Microsoft for the #IBM#PC.
It comes with the staggering amount of three 5.25" disks and complete manual and maps.
(Scribbles on the box by my grandpa which I consider a bonus.)
It's from an era when games still came with manuals. #retrogaming#RetroComputing
For #CIBSunday I thought to finish with the sequel to the prior game posted. Though not a BioWare title, I’m told Star Wars: KOTOR II is a worthy successor. Moreso on PC thanks to mod restorations. I have this on Switch so one day I’ll play. #gamer#gaming#videogames#retrogaming#mastodongaming
On #SegaSunday / #CIBSunday here’s “Sonic Spinball”. This was developed by #Sega of America when Sonic 3 wasn’t ready for Christmas 1993. It’s basically an extension of the pinball style zones Spring Yard & Casino Night in earlier #Sonic games. #Retrogaming#MegaDrive#Genesis
On #CIBSunday here’s “Resident Evil”. This 2002 remake of the 1996 #PlayStation game was developed & published by #Capcom for the #GameCube as part of an exclusivity deal with #Nintendo. It retains the same gameplay as the original but with improved graphics. #Retrogaming
On #SegaSunday / #CIBSunday here’s “Castle of Illusion: Fushigi no Oshiro Daibouken”. This is a 1990 platform game starring the famous Disney character Mickey Mouse, developed by Sega R&D 2 and published by #Sega. #Retrogaming#MegaDrive#Genesis
On #CIBSunday here’s “Die Hard Vendetta” for #Nintendo#GameCube. This is a 2002 first person shooting game developed by Bits Studios & published by Fox Interactive. The game is set 5 years after the movie Die Hard With A Vengeance (1995). #Retrogaming
On #SegaSunday / #CIBSunday here’s “Thunder Force III”. This is a 1990 shoot-em-up developed & published by Technosoft. This game drops the top-down view levels from the previous installment and instead is completely horizontal scrolling. #Retrogaming#Sega#MegaDrive#Genesis
For #CIBSunday I thought I’d share a SquareEnix title given news of the latest FF title to be released. When I get time I need to sit down and give it a play, along with the other Xbox 360 JRPGs out there. #gamer#gaming#videogames#retrogaming#mastodongaming
