Via the #Whatcom Housing Alliance on FB: "The Community Development Dashboard is one of our favorite resources provided by the City of #BellinghamWA. It is a live map and dashboard reporting the number of projects in development; the number of applications in review; the total value is current projects and a bunch of other fascinating development statistics that help us understand how and where we're growing."
I’m pretty spoiled here in Bellingham because this sunset was ‘just ok’ for me. Was mostly waiting for the clouds to get behind the island but they kind of just faded away as I took long exposures
Rise and grind, seize the day, conquer and prosper at good things! Looking over the water at the city of #BellinghamWA enthused by the side quests along the way in life as well.
One last sunset/blue hour here to end the year. So glad the rain last night cleared up the skies here in Bellingham. Hope you have a good one. See you in the next...
I've been catching up on holiday card writing and for friends in West Seattle, drew them a map for how to get from their house to our new place in Bellingham via the West Seattle Water Taxi and Amtrak Cascades.
One of the many joys of taking photos at Marine Park is that when I want to make some promotional banners for my work, I get to do this fun composite! Love this place and love coming here as often as I can. It was here that I started to feel at peace for the first time in a while. Just listening to the water in the morning would soothe my soul.
I am really happy that I got out for sunrise & sunset over the weekend. I hadn’t really gotten back into my routine and these were nice reminders of why I love this place. More to come! Well… after the rain for the next few days…
Wow, TIL near where I grew up in France, high-speed rail (the TGV) caused tangible reduction in passenger air traffic. The budget airlines shut off the routes as soon as the TGV started running, unable to compete. The larger airlines kept trying for ten years, but eventually gave up as well. Turns out, 2-3 hours on a comfortable train that drops you in the middle of town is better than faffing around in airports, despite the trip time being just 1h.
@mmb@danderson The only big towns along the way are Metz and Nancy, each of which has a population of about 100K (around the same population of #BellinghamWA). The LGV Est doesn't serve those cities directly (they are on branch lines parallel to the HSR) but they share the Lorraine-TGV station which passes between them.
While Amtrak train service is suspended between Seattle and Portland due to mudslides, trains are running north of Seattle to/from British Columbia.
The conductor on my train north to Bellingham said there will be speed restrictions through various flood zones. I trust that the tracks are above the flood waters!
#BellinghamWA@BellinghamWA: please sign this petition asking the Bellingham city council to pass a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza: https://forms.gle/D5hAxkYc3vtq66ap6 Also, contact you council members and sign up to give a public comment at the council meeting on December 11.
Hey #fediverse ! I'd like your help and support in something. I'm going to do something that goes against a lot of what I've been told by the 'marketing experts'. I'm gonna do a sale here and only talk about it here. I'm not going to do a FLASH SALE and try to create FOMO with people in order to try to trick (in my opinion) people into buying my prints. I believe in my photography and will continue to do it no matter what. However, I wanted to see how this would be received here.
Here are examples of my most recent release which focuses on #bellinghamwa I'm very proud of these images as I was only able to get them by biking to these locations for sunrise & sunset while carrying my gear with me. Also, they're pretty damn good!
I have on occasion heard people compare the climate of the Pacific Northwest to that of London. But after spending some time in the UK, I just don't agree. Our summers average 10 degrees (F) warmer and are very dry. Portland has a climate much more like Bordeaux, France. #pnw#portland#bordeaux#oregon
