If you are an #Apple enthusiast and are a #Reddit refuge trying out #Lemmy or #Kbin, I moderate quite a few Apple communities over on #LemmyWorld. Come join in on the convos!

That’s it. Packed up the #AppleTV for the last time. What finally did it for me was the #Netflix app not correctly detecting streaming bandwidth and increasing resolution. And it’s done this before. Play a show, it pixelates like I’m streaming over a 300bps modem, which is sometimes normal with apps until they detect that you in fact have an #AX5400 with #wifi6 and #beamforming and the quality increases. NF app quality didn’t increase. Quit out of the app (I HATE that you can only endtask on the ATV with its own remote and ONLY with swiping turned on, which I don’t have by default because it causes misfires when clicking), start NF app again, same shit stream quality. Back to #FireStick, quality perfect.
Jesus Apple. How do you get things so right (#iPhone, #iPad) and yet so miserably wrong (AppleTV, #AppleWatch and #MacOS - yeah y’all heard me!) almost dead-on 50% of the time either way?
Just as fascinating: that people don’t even realize how much better the alternatives are. 😵💫🤷🏻♂️
After 15+yrs with an #AppleTV and seeing the sleep screens focused on dramatic views of natural beauty around the world, I began noticing in the last few years a conspicuous lack of anything in #Canada.
I suppose we don't have much in the way of dramatic natural landscapes nor a substantial landmass relative to other countries, so I can see how it might not come up. Oh look, Iceland has dramatic rivers and Greenland has snowy mountains. Nice.
I was listening to music and adjusted the volume when I realized that it and power button just worked with my sound bar + TV without me having to set up anything. Wow.
The touch pad is WAY too sensitive for me. I kept getting false swipes. Changing the default helped.
The remote feels so sturdy compared to my other plastic remotes.
I'm so glad that the accessibility menu has a way to disable autoplay previews.
#AppleTV app devs/fans: I’m very shortly writing up a piece on Apple TV apps. The aim is to go beyond broadcaster apps and see what other great apps exist for Apple TV, and that are particularly suited to the platform. This doesn’t have to be new apps – any age will do (as long as they’re maintained). One caveat: this is for a consumer readership.
Does anyone have experience of Apple TV? Is it worth the sub?
I'm already familiar with For all Mankind and Foundation, and someone recommended Severance...but is there enough content to justify keeping it around?
Got an Apple TV. I haven’t done anything with it that I couldn’t already do on the Roku built into the TV + AirPlay.
Obviously the Apple TV is nicer and faster, but I use it pretty rarely, and it’s another wire and a few dozen dollars. I have a HomePod Mini for a Home Hub.
I've been watching #Foundation on #AppleTV since is started. I like it, including the very slow burn first season.
But, the last to episodes of this season were WILD. I can't recall a TV show making such a sudden migration into such great storytelling late in its second season.
The series is officially underrated at this point. Very much worth a watch.
So Apple put up the price of the plan I was on so I dropped #AppleTV, News, Arcade, and Fitness since we really just need iCloud storage and music… now they send me an almost daily Apple TV email about a free month. Wankers.
People may grumble about Apple's higher monthly fee, but there are a lot of original series packed in their lineup that many viewers haven't yet considered.
I mean, it's visually stunning. But the story's a royal (ha!) mess. The entire Cleon / Demerzel thing is weird. I may watch episode 6, but I don't know if I can hold on much longer.
God damn you, peer pressure and deal monkeys furiously flagellating yourselves on bargain threads extolling the virtues of this blasted thing. I didn’t need an #AppleTV 128Gb gen 3, but Costco have them on special for $99 right now. $45 off. So I bought one. I DID NOT NEED ONE. I love #GoogleTV. And #Firestick, for that matter. And you can’t even install Kodi on it. Nnnnnnnnrrrrgh.
For those who DO need one though, jump on this deal immediately, it’s really good. Essentially the best or the second best (nVidia Shield?) streaming device in existence. Slick as a bastard, if the forums speak true.
