#ADL / Blood Libel Accusations Resurface in the Wake of Oct. 7
You’d think ADL would bother to mention in their report about the reemergence of the antisemitic blood libels how many children Israel did in fact kill in this war alone… but why mess up their lovely report with disturbing facts?
Good level of detail in this article, produced by the #AP.
"From 1960 to 2015, there were 35 major bridge collapses worldwide due to ship or barge collisions"
Well, I wonder if there will be an effort now to increase pier protection for major bridges around the world. Certainly there's a heavy cost for blocking the Port of #Baltimore...
#Zionism / On the Right-Wing Government and Zionism's Dependence on Antisemitism
When the Zionist movement decided to establish a home for Eastern European Jews in Palestine, they brought European #antisemitism with them, making it a problem for the Palestinians as well. Antisemitism is the bread and butter of the Zionist movement. It’s the reason Israel was created and the reason it still is very much a Zionist project, and not a normal state.
Roy Yahav, argues that antisemitism was not only the reason for the establishment of Israel as a Zionist state, but also continues to sustain its existence. He contends that any criticism of Israel's actions, such as the occupation of Palestinians and the current war in Gaza, is labeled as antisemitism by pro-Zionist voices. But by conflating criticism with antisemitism and falsely claiming to represent all Jews worldwide, Israel is ironically increasing the danger of antiemitism.
Take for example the "antisemitic Zionism" which is embraced by neo-Nazis and white supremacists who support a Zionist state to rid white Europe/America of Jews, who they see as a "Western wall" against #Islam. Indeed , Israel's staunchest supporters today, including those close to Netanyahu (who’s currently conducting the Gaza atrocities), are the same far-right extremists perpetuating antisemitic ideologies that originally led to Zionism's rise.
Yahav calls for recognizing this reality and opposing Israel's self-serving definitions. He argues that Israel does not represent all Jews, many Jews oppose its actions (and not, they’re not self-hating Jews). Opposing Zionism's path to destruction is not antisemitic but a fight against antisemitism itself. The real struggle, he states, is for equality and partnership between all peoples from the Jordan to the Mediterranean.
Reminder: in 2005, Bolsonaro questioned the scale of the #Holocaust, suggesting that the number of deaths may have been exaggerated. Organizations like the Simon Wiesenthal Center have expressed concerns about Bolsonaro's failure to unequivocally condemn anti-Semitism and his association with individuals or groups that promote anti-Semitic ideologies.
"Biden backs Schumer after senator calls for new elections in Israel", #AP and "Biden backs Schumer's criticism of Bibi", #Axios
"'He [Schumer] made a good speech,' ... 'I think he expressed serious concerns shared not only by him but by many Americans'", Biden said.
I've posted before:
Israel has a right to exist
Israel has a right to go after Hamas
If Israel is not careful they may win the battle and loose the war
The only long term solution is a two state solution with most of the occupied West Bank returned to Palestinian control and as part of the Palestinian state.
Netanyahu must go as with Likud
The US should end funding for Israel until Netanyahu is gone and the extremist Israeli government is replaced.
"Those questioning the investigations of the mass rapes on October 7 instead of questioning the rapists are agents of 'alternative facts' and cannot be considered serious journalists."
#Palestine / UN rights office says Israeli settlements in Palestinian areas amount to a ‘war crime’
Türk said the creation and expansion of settlements amount to the transfer by Israel of its own population into territories that it occupies, “which amounts to a war crime under international law,” his office said in a statement.
#UNRWA / Israel says 450 Gaza UNRWA workers are militants, provides no evidence
UNRWA accused Israel of torturing some of its staff in detention to force false confessions about links between UNRWA, #Hamas and the October 7th attacks, in order to spread misinformation to try to dismantle UNRWA.
[…] "The military named the men, though the man in the first call identified himself in the recording by a different name."
One of the names provided by Israel for an alleged UNRWA employee involved in the attacks doesn’t correspond the name heard used in the recording.
