I am 83. When I married 62 years ago, my wife was not allowed to apply for and receive a credit card unless I (or her father) signed for it.
We can not ALLOW our progress over the past 50 years to be blown away by idiots who believe in mythical superbeings that send them "signs and portents"
Christianity will not survive in the modern world, no religion can. They must therefore turn back the clock to pre Napoleonic times and reinstate Divine Rule - The Kings of Industry and the church.
@andrewpazniewski@OlDude82@StillIRise1963 why not? Being a Christian doesn't mean, that you can not learn. I grew up in a church that even had lesbian pastors back then and a few years ago they opened the marriage procedure for gay people. Religion is about belief. It's even compatible with science. All you need for being a Christian is the belief in God, who came down to earth as Jesus and rose from the dead. Religion is also what we make out of it.
All you need for being a Christian is the belief in AN IMAGINARY SUPREME BEING THAT YOU ARE GOING TO AGREE TO ALLOW TO CONTROL YOUR LIFE AND YOU WILL CALL HIM God, who came down to earth as Jesus and rose from the dead. AND YOU WILL EXPECT PEOPLE TO NOT THINK YOU ARE CRAZY for believing in something that allows you to be violent to others because you believe in a fake sky daddy.
@LaNaehForaday God isn't controlling my life. Also Religion isn't allowing me to harm anyone.
You probably see or experience bad things done by Christians. So I understand that you are angry about that. I am, too. Some Christians do bad stuff and even do it in the name of Christianity. That's wrong. That doesn't mean that it has to be that way. You will find Christians that accept gay people and those who don't. You find some that allow women as priests and others don't.
@LaNaehForaday freedom of religion is a human right. That means everyone can believe in anything, independent of how abstruse the God is.
That doesn't mean that religious people can ignore the other human rights. If they violate the rights of another human, that's where their freedom of religion ends.
It also means, that no one can say what the right or wrong way of being a Christian is. If one believes in a devil and another one doesn't, both have the right to believe that.
You obviously felt the need to clarify religion to me as if I were your child.
Let me clarify to you that I dont give a rat's ass about anyone's deluded belief that they can lay the responsibility of the world onto the feet of some make believe power structure that will eventually come here and correct all the bad HIS little sons have done and instantaneously right the entire wrong produced by humans and deliver everyone onto a fluffy little white cloud to play harps and rape virgins.
So yea, tell me again about how you all have the right to decide FOR ME what I should believe or not and why.
@LaNaehForaday if you believe in a God that "deliver everyone onto a fluffy little white cloud to play harps and rape virgins", that's your belief, not mine. But that's okay.
It seems you didn't read what I said. Religion is a human right. So no one is allowed to tell you, what you have to believe. You can believe in nothing, you can believe in a loving God or a hateful one. It's your belief. The human rights provide us the right. And like you have that right, I have it as well.
@duco
Obviously I didnt speak simply enough to allow you to understand.
I do not believe in the idea that religion has a supreme being BECAUSE
LOOK
THE
FUCK
AROUND
I REFUSE to believe in some stupid assed god that produces the horror,demolition and troture that YOUR god or anyone elses god delivers.
Yes oh yes it is your right to believe in the stupidest idea ever and I have to live with it.
What I find ridiculous is I AM THE ONE SEEN AS AN OUTLIER when it is you that believes in a crazed torturing revengeful god that is currently and evidently reeking pure hatred and havoc on thep lanet.
@LaNaehForaday no, you are wrong. I don't believe in a "crazed torturing revengeful god". I believe in a loving God. I also don't blame you for not believing in a God. That's totally fine to me.
So you blame me for things that I don't believe in and on the same side you complain about other doing to you, what you do to me. Don't you see that?
@LaNaehForaday bragging? You are trampling on my human rights here. You paint a picture of God as you picture it and try to force it on me, while you whinge that others don't accept that you are not a believer. It's sad that you just want to spread your hate. Let me know when you're back in your right mind and want to have a civilised discussion without allegations.
@duco Again, I dont believe in your imaginary creator so you of course will end up seeing this as me affronting you when in truth, you simply cant understand how I could possibly be normal and still not "believe"
I have no issue with Faith or Belief but Religions have all the hallmarks of Organised Crime Entities. You are right of course, religions can adapt but they refuse to. Instead, religions globally are as the were 2000 years ago and in most cases want society to adapt to their form work. To do this they persecute everyone who is scripture non compliant. They are harming the most vulnerable by trying to hammer round pegs into square holes.
@andrewpazniewski@OlDude82@StillIRise1963 the opposite is the case. Religions are generally compatible with science because religion is about the things we believe. If we know something (through science) by definition it's out of scope for religions. There are religious groups that denie scientific evidence, but others don't. Religious extremists like in the USA that denie evolution or the big bang theory wouldn't be thinkable in Europe. Here they are seen as crazy.
@andrewpazniewski@OlDude82@StillIRise1963 Republican politicians in the USA, I think. The Republicans would be an extreme right wing party in Europe. While the Democrats would be a moderate right wing party in Europe. They traditionally hate LGBTQ and suppress women. Hitler, as one of the most extreme, did that. He also hated religion and suppressed churches as well. It's the people who are homophobic.
@andrewpazniewski@OlDude82@StillIRise1963
"Many historians maintain that Hitler's goal in the Kirchenkampf entailed not only ideological struggle, but ultimately the eradication of the churches."
"Some leading Nazis… were vehemently anti-Christian, and sought to de-Christianize Germany"
"Hitler promised the Reichstag on 23 March 1933, that he would not interfere with the rights of the churches. However, with power secured in Germany, Hitler quickly broke this promise." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirchenkampf
@andrewpazniewski@OlDude82@StillIRise1963 you forgot the power of whole Germany, later big parts of Europe and millions of enslaved Jews, gays and other people they didn't liked.
Homosexuality had gradually become acceptable in Germany through the early 20th Century. The christofascists long persecuted LGBTQ humans for their non compliance with scripture. Nazism provided the church the opportunity of exterminating these “abominations”.
@StillIRise1963 What are you talking about? You still don't have bodily autonomy. You can kill your unborn child but the government restricts a lot of other things you might do with your body. Hard drugs, prostitution, violent acts against people already born, etc.
@StillIRise1963 It's still a surprise to some people how fast the country has degraded and it's strange. I'm "only" 46, I've never known a GOP that genuinely cared about anything.
They still talk about the party of Lincoln but yet they've been wildly regressive my entire life. How is anyone still surprised?
@gooba42@StillIRise1963
My son is in his late 20s. He has never known functional government, he's lived through a major depression, and a pandemic accompanied by a major depression. They are either going to check out, or toss the garbage we've handed them.
@MHowell My twins are the same age. We talk all the time about the fact that they've never seen a functional government in the U.S. It should be a wake up call when one thinks of it that way.
@MHowell@gooba42@StillIRise1963 When my parents moved my family to the US nearly 45 years ago, we thought we were moving to the future. Instead it turned out we were moving to the 1950s.
@gooba42@StillIRise1963 things can degrade surprisingly fast when one of the country's two controlling political parties is actively working to sabotage the entire nation for their own personal benefit, and the other does relatively little to stop it because it benefits their biggest donors as well.
A hard fact that makes the calls not to criticise Dems in the face of fascism all the more ridiculous, when this was allowed to happen under Democratic watch.
@vruz "Allowed under Democratic watch?" Have you heard of SCOTUS? This is an absurd comment. Do you know how the government works here? Apparently, NOT.
