*Note about TestFlight Subs: TestFlight doesn't read your app store sub and so you must subscribe in TestFlight if it asks. No real money is transferred as it's just a test environment.
@ivory I've noticed a UI issue on iPad Mini (iOS 17.3b2) using the latest Ivory 1.8.1 build — the "Search" field on the Explore tab has a weird color treatment in both light and dark modes.
@ivory The multiple choice polls are working quite nice. 😊
For the mono theme I first thought: Cool, I like the Threads theme. But within Ivory it doesn't really work nice for me. Maybe because of the optical expectations. But I feel like I can't distinguish between links/hashtags and normal text.
Oh and I still miss those beautiful digital icons that were available only in one 1.8 beta. 😁
@schalksernst yes it can be harder to decipher links visually, but not much we can do about that. It’s been fine in practice though because a seasoned user will know what is a link when reading it. It’s just another choice for those who want something different. 🙂
@ivory I read about the change to image attachments in regard to captions → alt text and they seem like a good change, but I immediately thought of many captions I have on my pictures that would leak private info to the web! Just using the caption text without a confirmation step seems potentially … dangerous? 🤔 How about prompt like "would you like to use caption text 'x' as alt text?" Yes/No
@oelna valid point. We can think about it. But our thought was, if the caption is private, most likely the image would be too and the user probably would post that in the first place?
@ivory the text in the new poll UI feels a bit small compared to the body text here (on 120% Dynamic Type), and the word "votes" seems to sometimes want to be cut off
@zmk text sizes have always been the same. It’s part of our system to make embedded text slightly smaller in those rectangles. The truncated text is a bug that we fixed, just not in the public build yet. 🙂
@ivory the poll improvements are very nice. It would be neat if you could filter the timeline to show only polls (like you can already for media/links/boosts).
@SeanMooney if you want to test out polls a bit easier, you can go to the explore page and do a search for polls and go to the #poll hashtag list (or tap my hashtag link 🙃).
@bradr3d possibly if we don’t get enough feedback. We’ve actually been pretty bad about pushing betas to TestFlight so a lot of users just installed the App Store version again. That was the reason for the post earlier. But if there aren’t a lot of TestFlight users, we will potentially open it up some more.
@ivory On macOS only when writing. I tried to film it (with cleanshot) but the thing is, it was doing it EVERY TIME, then I fire cleanshot, select the window to record, and... fixed, no bug... I'll try again next reboot... Soooo weird. 🤯
@Cafeine Sounds good. And if it happens again, try to remember the exact steps you took for it to happen. That way even if we can't see what happened, we can try to replicate the scenario on our end and see if it does it for us.
@ivory Will that new notifications tab sync between iOS and macOS? After I read new mentions on iOS, they are still unread on macOS. I therefore currently have to read every mention twice.
