@nixCraft Just no. I don’t want to come off all techno-libertarian, but I can’t even count the problems with this proposal — and nobody who has paid attention to the evolution of real-name policies on social media should need to think very long before running away screaming from any such suggestion. Fortunately, plenty of nations already have digital ID systems that work, so there will be balkanised facts on the ground long before a unified worldwide system can get going.
@nixCraft There is a big problem with many refugees and poor people missing out on work and services because they don’t have ID. And fraud is rampant. Dismissing this out of hand is simple but there are no easy answers
@nixCraft did anyone actually read anything more than the shitty headline? He never said about every single person, only people that can't access services without identification
@nixCraft This article seems very misleading? It's framed as if he wants you to have an ID in a global database, but he's talking about people who lack any form of identification, likely in poverty. Did you read the article? Also: "for people millions of people". No editor?
@nixCraft I'm afraid your title totally misreads his statement. The piece of news you shared puts intent on the words of Bill Gates that are simply not there in his tweet.
@nixCraft has anyone identified the link between having too much money and being a twat? What comes first the twattishness or the cash? Does being a twat make you more likely to be rich? Are there any nice decent billionaires? How much would it cost to round them all up and send them into space together?
